Golden Presser 11/10 & some QAM quotes 11/11

the worse morris has played, the longer the def has been on the field. i think they have kind of given up hope that he can lead the offense. i just think they are burned out from having to save his bum a#%. It's not the injury, he stunk it up against florida atlantic and the gators too.

Master Manipulator strikes again.

Hey Al how about fixing this **** instead of passing the blame.

Thanks.

After scanning through the 5,234 threads created the past 2 days about how much Golden sucks and what not... I just found these two tweets interesting.

JdotGIBLETS ‏@JDotLeezy - If anyone wants to see the difference between Shannon's kids and Golden's, watch Morris at the podium compared to Stacy Coley.
JdotGIBLETS ‏@JDotLeezy - Morris was flippant, indifferent, and couldn't care less. Coley preached hard work, sticking together as a team, and getting better.

If you are selling your Al Golden and Co. stock, I will buy every **** share of it.

I'm with you.

That is a cop out. Morris is a ****ing team captain for ****s sake.

What is a cop out?

Can you identify where he has passed any blame? There could be a valid argument made that His team might not be performing to the level you expect, but I have NEVER heard him pass the buck on any topic.

AU, if you read back through this thread you'll see that the comments came from the Joe Rose show on WQAM this morning. Not from the post game presser.

We won't win with this guy. It's going to be a tough 2 years.

This next coach is going to inherit some real ballers. All I'm asking of Al moving forward, is to stock the cupboard for the next guy.

That's where I'm at now.
You guys are insane. Obviously you haven't been Cane fans
for long. I remember fans wanted Jimmy, Erickson, Davis fired at least once in their careers. How did that work out?
Patience is a virtue. There are no quick fixes in life.

Its kinda hard to compare the two... One is a freshman who is going to say whatever he believes will keep him in-line and the other is a senior who's seen this scenario unfold every year. Morris might as well be Golden guy. He's played under Golden for most of his career and Golden considers him a team leader

I wasn't impressed with morris' demeanor either, but I think it has more to do with morris 'believing the hype' about himself instead of blocking everything outside of football out. Even his gesture to the fans seemed immature

Lmao at letting Logan Thomas sit in the pocket and beat you. A more passive mindset in football I've never seen.
That's not what he said.

care to correct it, then? not all of us can listen to it right now

You'll have to hear it yourself to get the proper context. He wanted to keep a running QB from playing his game. He wanted to keep him in the pocket and make him make throws.

That's quite different from "game plan coming in was to allow Logan to sit in the pocket (which sounds like an incredibly stupid idea). Keep in mind that Thomas was their second leading rusher this year and had 121 carries coming into this game. Whether that was a smart strategy or not is debatable. The times I have seen Thomas self-destruct this year have been when he is under pressure.

Again, when you get a chance, give it a listen. It's in the first 3 or 4 minutes.

Can you show me exactly where this quote is? I checked the post game presser and it was not there.

So they're knackered in the 1st Quarter now?

'Cos VT marched up and down the field on us all game.

he is usually careful about putting himself or coaches on blast...he will sometimes refer to getting out coached but he always sandwiches it inbetween saying guys are blowing assignments/freelancing (surprised he hasnt trademarked FREELANCING) etc. It would probably go a long way if he at least acknowledged the struggles on defense instead of saying things like "it wasnt just the defense" regarding vtech...yes, we are all well aware the two fumbles lost were huge, nobody can question that. and our offense didnt do the defense any favors with time of possession (again) but our defense has repeatedly gotten GASHED in the first halves of games this year. When you reference things like the short fields rendered due to turnovers (which would directly relate to points allowed) or time of possession (which would directly relate to a defense tiring in the 4th Q), there's still only one explanation for the amount of ******* yardage this so called defense allows in the 1st half on a weekly ******* basis.

I will say this...his monday post practice Q&A was probably the most condescending I've seen him towards the media...makes me wonder if he reads these boards haha.

everybody is appalled at the idea of "letting thomas sit inte pocket" and whether it was actually said or not, etc...what about him going on record that our target was 30 pts? Im surprised he would even admit that, and even moreso that not a single media member followed up when he said that. If that was our goal, then he is saying to WIN we would need AT LEAST 30 pts...against a perennially strong defense and one of the worst offenses in college football.

He actually told the players and staff 30 pts was the goal, and indirectly acknowledged that our defense is terrible and can't be counted on to keep an offense with a turnover prone, single read QB/3rd string true freshman RB to 20 points or less, AT HOME?

Would that be considered a Freudian slip?
