And unless the players came up with the "bend don't break" game plan on defense, it's not the players fault either. Do you understand that when you have a DC say he doesn't care about how many yards given up, you're not getting many 3 and outs, unless the other team screws up? I dont know if you've ever been in charge of a company, business or a large group of individuals, but I can tell you a couple things

1. Always praise in public

2. Criticize in private

We have no idea what goes on behind closed doors. For all we know D'Onforio is already gone and just finishing out the season. We have no clue what happens when those doors close, but If you start ripping your guys in public, you will lose any and all RESPECT. Not just from your asst coaches, but from everyone.

What he said was not making excuses. Is 90 defensive snaps too much? Absolutely. Do we have the depth? Nope

Did we slow down their run in the 3rd quarter? Yes we did and D played much better in 2nd half. So where's the excuse???

I don't know if Golden is going to be able to fix the defense, but I guarantee you he's not happy with giving up almost 500 yards and 26 points to that garbage team.

There is no other explanation as to why Duke would run the train on us other than coaching, defensive coaching to be exact. I wouldn't argue us beating Ohio State right now. But I'll be damned if someone says we don't have the talent to beat Duke. Good God, go look at their recruiting classes. I don't care about Coach D's view of anything. I care about winning games and competing for MNCs. I agree that well-coached teams miss fewer tackles, but at some point, these dudes just need to make plays when they're in position to make them.
