Golden loves making excuses for the defense

LULZ at any idiot beating their chest over that pitiful defensive performance today. 500 yards to a usf level club? Their QB and TE gifted us the turnovers because they weren't great plays by defenders; they were just balls that popped up in the air and luckily landed in our hands. We didn't "force" ****. Those were just give aways; they weren't take aways.

Was Alice doing an Irish jig in the locker room after this cataclysmic victory over the great uvag? Did he treat it like a Super Bowl win like the Weak Florist game?

P.S. The whole "we were on the field for 90 plays" rap is for retards. You were on the field for 90 plays because YOU CAN'T STOP ANYONE!

and the offense can't maintain drives.

the offense is sort of missing its biggest playmakers....dont know if you noticed

while we cannot deny that...much/majority of our struggles (particularly on the defensive side) are due to scheme or coaching philosophy. Defense has been discussed a lot, but offensively, if it is not for the vertical big yard plays, Special team plays and occasional WR screens to the house, we are awful. blocking schemes, stretch runs etc, we cannot sustain drives and are very predictable offensively. All that has been over shadowed because our D. For those hung on the talent excuse, we gave up almost 500yds to Virginia...Virginia!!!!!

and my response to all the excuses by AG, posters, players, etc ........"excuses are tools of incompetence, those that use them rarely amount to anything"

What is wrong with our fans? Talk about some front runners who know nothing about football. Going into the season, I knew the front 7 would struggle, especially the D line. Miami didnt exactly add any impact players in the off season other than Gilbert.

Next year could be a different story depending on how we finish in recruiting. If we can add some jucos at the DT, maybe another juco at DE to go along with the current crop, we might be pretty good up front.

In regards to our fans, half of the posters who all of a sudden hate Golden, were kissing his *** a quarter into the season, crowning him as a god. Now you hate him..... interesting.

If some of you angry posters are experts on the game of football like you proclaim to be, maybe you should go out and coach instead of sitting around in your moms basement, *****ing and moaning about the obvious..... lack of skill on the defensive side of the ball.

We seriously have the most idiotic fan base in all of college football. It's mind blowing..... goodnight and Go Canes.

If its about the next few years then have a coke and smile, help is on the way. Seen our latest recruiting class?

If its about today (after 3 years of recruiting with one hand tied behind our back) then i am big boy with eyes wide open and realize that recruiting classes 3 and 4 years ago sucked *** and there should be kids here NOW forming the nucleus of the team. DT misses over the past 4 years have killed our defense.

I want Dorito gone but the players have a huge part in this. McCords two potential drive ending whiffs..coaching failure or brain freeze?

If the coaches can't get highly touted guys like McCord to make plays or Kirby to beat out Jimmy Gaines wtf makes you think they are going to do anything with this recruiting class??

Them not being able to maximize a guy like McCord is a coaching failure and a coaching brain freeze. DT misses the last 4 years includes 3 years of failure by THIS staff

Seriously. I love when people place the missed tackle blame on the players. Sure if it happens every now and then. But when you're in year 3 and your biggest issue is still tackling (despite the coaches making it an emphasis in their practice circuit) that's on the staff.

You don't see VT miss many tackles. Thats one of Bud Foster's MO... great tackling and true swarming to the ball.

It can be taught!
Just like speed can be taught.
Heart can be instilled via a good staff.
Discipline, etc.

Coaching ******* matters greatly this day n age with all the parity.

We don't have the luxury of having this secret staff of talent in so fla. And kids all over th country get great training and coaching at very early ages.

Parity parity parity. You have to har great coaching.

34 PTS/G and 492 YPG in last 6 games

how in tha fck can anyone defend this in year 3?!

Sht happens in life that SHOULD change your perspective on all sorts of things.

Now we see defenders of Doh'nofrio pointing out early season support like it is at all relevant at this point?

Last 6 games gets anyone fired.

Clemson's DC got run off after one awful performance.

We've seen 6 in a row

Anyone whose opinion of Doh'nofrio hasn't gone down, what is wrong w you?

Golden: "We stopped the run good in the third quarter. Defense I thought really played their tails off."

Anything to keep Dorito. **** you Golden.

I wanna punch him in the ****ies. ****ing loser.

I have been on all the cane sites reading message board threads and this is by far the best! I'm literally in tears reading some of your post! You guys are hilarious

The defense sucked and swallowed....

but what I thought was cool was a lot of offensive players running into the end zone and celebrating with Gilbert's TD.

Sandland, Rayshawn Scott were all down there celebrating in there ... we back? LOL

-- i know they were down there for the extra point attempt, but its still cool

the sooner Al realizes and cuts ties w/ his boy Dorito the quicker we get back to a respectable level. the defensive staff is just flushing talent down the tubes with their inabilities

Saw this in another thread. I know Golden chats with Carroll quite a bit. I'm hopeful they discussed this defensive issue and Golden is smart enough to take the advice of a guy who has been there before.

Dont worry guys. We still have Pitt. Once they put up 500 plus yards, everyone will forget about this "Great Defensive Performance" against a 2-8 team that was gift wrapping interceptions for us.

Pitt can actually throw the football a little. They have a couple nice WRs. If the weather's decent that'll be a 59-52 type of game.

No way we score 52... Following the team motto this year, Coley's play calling has regressed as the years gone on. And oh yeah we have Morris, who has been getting a HUGE PASS this last month due to the defense.

But that 59 for Pitt sounds about right

Regressed? Lmao no duke no dorsett no field stretching. That equals vanilla offense.

I didn't read the whole thread, but wouldn't you expect as much? He has a demoralized, fragile defense but he sees effort--the guys are still trying. He also knows that he's not making any coaching changes until after the season at least. In short, he has nothing dramatic to change. Yet he is trying to win games. So the tactic is to try to preserve whatever confidence the defense has and hope for better results next game. Is there any benefit to coming out after every game and impugning the defense again and again?

He's not a fool so I doubt he thinks these efforts against Duke and UVA are stellar but he's not going to come out and tell you as much. He knows they have to do some major things after the season.

This is coach D 3rd year and hardly any progress unless you count Savannah st and Fau in your analysis. Ellis Johnson at Auburn is in his first year and doing some work. They were 3-9 last year with relatively very little talent on D. They are 10-1 now with a very improved D!!! he is working with mild LB talent and many underclassmen. They are coaching and making Progress. Coach D is a disgrace and letting every team play techmo bowl vs our D!!!

This is simply untrue. Auburn is ranked behind Miami in total defense. In addition, the claim that Auburn has very little talent on defense is not true. The defense has many 4 and 5 "star" players, as ranked on one of the major recruiting services, such as Montravious Adams, Carl Lawson, Gabe Wright, Robinson Therezie, etc... Linebacker is their weak spot but they have plenty of talent. Chizik's problem was not recruiting, it was coaching and coaching hires he made.

In your last statement, you say it's former coaching(Auburn). You are just re-stating what I said. read what I wrote before saying untrue. Bottomline is Johnson is way better than our imposter as D coach!!

No, you said Auburn had "relatively very little talent on D" which I refuted. They have plenty of talent on defense because the former coaching staff was great at recruiting but was terrible at coaching.

I agree that Ellis Johnson is a great coach but he has a lot of talent to work with. The cupboard wasn't left bare at Auburn.
