Miami always has a massive showing for GT, I can only imagine what this year will be like.
Looking at Publik Draft, Cypress Street Pint, Ecco, Poor Calvins as possible Friday evening dinner spots...any feedback?
I;m in for whatever you decide. As long as the food is good and we ahve the TV’s.Hmmm....have not been to any of those. Ecco and Poor Calvins may be fine, I'm gonna pull @AtlAtty and @Fluffhead into this conversation.
I would recommend:
The Vortex (frequently cited as the best bar in Atlanta, though there are multiple locations, and I think the one in Five Points is the original/best)
Fado Irish Pub
5Church
Holeman and Finch (and they also own the H&F Burger joints, one is in Ponce City Market, one is in The Battery)
AltaToro (Latin American food)
Torched Hop Brewing Company
If you want to go a bit outside of the Midtown radius, look at places around Ponce City Market (a hotspot in and of itself, but check out 9 Mile Station on the roof), Krog Street Market area (Kevin Rathbun Steak and Superica are great and the original Fox Bros BBQ is nearby), and the Interlock/Westside Provisions area (Marcel and Miller Union are great).

I love H&F as well as Vortex. Midtown would probably best the best location.
I’m gonna try to get to the GT game. If not I hate to even start talking about it but we can usually get a bunch of tickets to the ACCCG especially if Clemson is in it as wellI;m in for whatever you decide. As long as the food is good and we ahve the TV’s.

Keep us in the loop please.I’m gonna try to get to the GT game. If not I hate to even start talking about it but we can usually get a bunch of tickets to the ACCCG especially if Clemson is in it as well
I’ll just…not say anything else…but put this on the back burner…
All great ideasDepending on Saturday's game time, I want to do something at Ladybird. If it's a night game, we could do a Saturday lunchtime get-together, have a few adult juice-boxes, and eat some good food. LOVE that place.
As for Friday night, I'm open. I know the ATL Alumni Association is doing something at The Battery, but a lot of people will be staying in Midtown.

My gameday routine. MARTA train to vortex for food and drinks. Then walk down frat row to game. Such a simple gameday experience. Or I hit Thumbs up Diner if its a noon kickoff.Hmmm....have not been to any of those. Ecco and Poor Calvins may be fine, I'm gonna pull @AtlAtty and @Fluffhead into this conversation.

I used to go to Cypress all the time. Really good bar food. Ecco is good too. Assuming people are staying in Midtown, here are a list of walking distance places.Hmmm....have not been to any of those. Ecco and Poor Calvins may be fine, I'm gonna pull @AtlAtty and @Fluffhead into this conversation.

Thanks a bunch! will do some research and may have some questions....I used to go to Cypress all the time. Really good bar food. Ecco is good too. Assuming people are staying in Midtown, here are a list of walking distance places.

-Lyla Lila - Italia
-El Valle - upscale Mexican
-RReal Tacos - Taqueria
-Tabla - Upscale Italian
-Cypress Pint - Bar food
-South City Kitchen - Upscale southern
-Larakin - Wine bar
-Lazy Betty - Tasting menu, fine dining
Not far from the heart of Midtown (short Uber):
-Antico Pizza
-Ponce City Market - food hall
-Wrecking Bar Brewpub
-Torched Hop Brewpub
-The Porter Beer Bar
-Breaker Breaker
-Kevin Rathbun Steak
West Midtown also has a bunch of places - Forza Storico for pasta, Ormsby's for bar, Miller Union for nicer Southern, Marcel for steak, Little Sparrow for French, Bastone for Italian, Optimist for seafood, Superica for Mexican.
A lot of these admittedly trend a little higher end. Happy to offer more specific recommendations if people have specific questions, cuisines, price points, etc.
Let me know if you are doing this for the UM game. My son is in a frat at GTech and I know they will be doing something. SAE.My gameday routine. MARTA train to vortex for food and drinks. Stay in Midtown if you can. Just a lot more going on and much closer to the game.Wow. Didn’t realize so many in ATL in here. Last few times been to GT game stayed at Downtown Hilton. I just wondered around Downtown. Lol
I second H&F-especially since they’re in that bigger spot now.I;m in for whatever you decide. As long as the food is good and we ahve the TV’s.

Careful, turn down the wrong way and you could be in a not-so-safe area. I second those that suggest Midtown.Wow. Didn’t realize so many in ATL in here. Last few times been to GT game stayed at Downtown Hilton. I just wondered around Downtown. Lol
I’m not up on the bar/breweries because I’m old and boring, but can second all the restaurant recommendations in this post. Great list!I used to go to Cypress all the time. Really good bar food. Ecco is good too. Assuming people are staying in Midtown, here are a list of walking distance places.

Since it was mentioned, Breaker Breaker has good food and has a really good vibe, weather is looking nice so would be good spot imo. Also right on the beltline so a lot of good options before and after right in the area. Super close to Krog Street Market and Lady Bird which I know has come up a few times, but set off more to itself than some other places. Super casual spot if that’s your vibe. Thanks a bunch! will do some research and may have some questions....
