Georgia Tech Game

Agree! CFB HOF is so much fun for all ages. Piedmont Park is also fun and has a great farmers market Saturday mornings. There’s a great Cuban food truck, and I also highly recommend Emerald Bagels (some of my favorite ever, and I lived in NYC for a few years). My son also loves the Fernbank (science) Museum, but that’s a little farther out, so you’d need to drive or Uber out. Worth it though. Midtown also has great art museums (High Museum, Center of Puppetry, MODA), if you’re into that.

I also agree 100% on everyone’s hotel recs. Also there are no good restaurants or anything else to do in downtown. But I think some of y’all might be confusing downtown with Midtown? Downtown Atlanta is the area further south, near where the government buildings are. Midtown is nicer and where GT is. We don’t refer to the whole “city” area as downtown here.

Edit: oops, I think I may have replied to you when I meant to quote you - sorry dude!
Buena Gente is now a full on take out spot! But out of the way for non locals. Next door to one of my favorite bbq places too. I’m not as keen on Emerald City but do like that market. We do Fernbank and the High with the kids often.

I had no idea about Buena Gente! I’ll have to check it out. I’m up in Cumming and there’s a decent Cuban place up here (Coco’s -‘at the end of Buford Hwy).

What’s the bbq place you’re talking about?

Community Q. Great place.

@TheOriginalCane This is part dependent on kickoff but we should look into bars or breweries near the stadium for a pregame.

Ah, yes! Haven’t been there, but I’ve had takeout from there before. Good stuff!

And pregame place would be great. I’m praying we don’t have a noon game because it looks like my son’s football team is definitely making the playoffs!

What area is the parking deck location we tailgate @ tech stadium? The parking deck we totally rule. I'm trying to get a parking pass ahead of time. Can't recall the parking pass location
IIRC they tried that last game and had to scramble to find another lot

Not sure of plan this year

If you want close, the Ga Tech Hotel and Conference Center is literally right across the street from the stadium. Like $300 a night, but books up fast on game days. It’s right in the middle of all the tailgating.
Yup. Walk down the street between the stadium and the hotels and seeing Miami signage in the windows is great.

Been in Atlanta the last 3 days. Leaving today but I’d recommend the Hyatt Centric in Midtown. 30 minute walk to the stadium if that’s up your alley. Lots to do in this area.

Whenever I go to Miami @ GTech, this is where I park and tailgate. It is a 7 minute walk to the stadium from there.

Trying to get tickets close to where the Miami allotment is at. Does anyone know what section the Miami fans will sit ?

Thanks in advance.

i just got 9 seats in sec 128. Will be coming up with dad, brother and some friends. Dad is Um & GT alum. i quickly read thru all these posts and didnt see much about tailgate area, where do the canes fans tailgate? and is is close enough to stadium for a 74 yr old man to not have to walk too far after?

Not in the cards to for me to tailgate this year.

I live up in Jefferson, Georgia and I will commute to Doraville MARTA station and then take the gold line down to North Ave. Most out-of-towners and Techies that choose not to tailgate pile into The Varsity before the game to stand in line and pay for diarrhea-inducing slop. Skip that ****--trash is overrated. There are better restaurants all around the area.

That parking lot I highlighted earlier has Canes tailgaters with pop up tents, cornhole, BBQs, etc. Worth checking it. Think its $20 to park--not sure. It was $20 back in '18. Only stopped going because I moved out to Raleigh for a few years to attend graduate school at North Carolina State Univ. I have since moved back to Georgia. This will be the first time back since '18. It's a good atmosphere. Canes are 1-2 whenever I show up so let's make sure we get back to .500 this year.
