I too think the Indiana coach would be a good hire...
and he does...Indiana is 5-0
I just don’t see how taking that Florida job would not be a step down lateral move at best

Why is he more of a college coach?McDaniels strikes me as more of a college coach I just don’t know how he’d do recruiting.
They are in denial about Mario, who was destroying FSU and UF in recruiting after going 5-7. They are in denial, unable to process. Dumbfounded.Thank goodness we stuck with ours fsu though sheesh. They still think Mario is trash? lol
most fans dont know a good cfb coach if it smacked them in the face. Think what makes fans think someone is a great cfb coach is instant wins really quickly out the gate but thats not how that works. They are in denial about Mario, who was destroying FSU and UF in recruiting after going 5-7. I'm not a fan at all, but this is his TWENTIETH season in coaching, and he's never held a college position. He's not starting now. There is no shot that he's a recruiter. Someone would have to give him an OC gig and allow ZERO recruiting. No chance he's prepared for the CFB grind.Cause he sucks as a pro coach?
In some ways, this is a sensible hire. A few 8-4 seasons to right a wobbly ship.Bill O'Brien to UF. He could reach his ceiling at BC in Year One and be one and done. O'Brien knows the $EC from his few seasons at Bama. He did well at PSU post-scandal. Worked in elite organizations in the NFL and CFB.
UF went the 'up and coming coach' route with Napier. Repeating the experiment won't excite anyone, including those paying buyouts and salaries.

Would be a disaster hire he wont recruit which means they wouldnt win at a high clip yearly at all, I dont care how good his play calling isO’Brien has a son with a rare brain disorder. I don’t see him leaving his Northeast home.
Didn’t know that. Thanks for the information. Very sad story.O’Brien has a son with a rare brain disorder. I don’t see him leaving his Northeast home.

after 5 games? he's making 4 million plus...the Gaytors will need to come strong.Indiana is going to extend him, possibly before UF even fires Billy.
The Hoosiers haven't been 5-0 since 1967 which was also the last time they won the Rose Bowl.after 5 games? he's making 4 million plus...the Gaytors will need to come strong.
This is all they saw.IMO, if you’re going to hire an “up and comer” you hire him based on his coaching acumen. They made the mistake of hiring a G5 guy who was supposed to be a recruiter. His recruiting has been better than his on field performance but who cares if your teams sucks every year. Nobody wants to play for a loser. Urban Meyer wasn’t a recruiter at Utah or Bowling Green but he got kids to come play for him because he’s a winner and he had a proven offensive system. That’s the kind of guy they’re going to have to get. .
Back to back sunbelt champs!
