Tears Gator Tears

I remember reading these when we had ****** recruiters as HC. Always pumping up the jags and losing battles to everyone. Wow times have changed for UF and us.

It's a bizarre cycle with The Gator.

At the beginning of the calendar year, they take some guys. At this point, all of the 3-stars are guys who are GOING TO get a ranking bump, it's just a matter of time. Slingblade and his crew have great evals, yada yada yada.

In the middle of the year (particularly now), The Gator is all about the blue-chippers. This is when they boot the 3-stars out of the boat and brag about how they are leading for every blue-chipper in Florida. No need to pump up JAGs at this point, and no battles have been lost yet.

By the end of the year, when all of The Gator recruits are flipping and holes have to be filled, that's when you start to hear about "character" again, and how certain recruits "fit" and others (the misses) were "passes". This is where The Gator takes 0-3 stars and tries to tell people that Slingblade is changing the culture, etc. etc. etc.

You can set your clock by these annual events.

Got it down to a science bruh that’s exactly what happens. The history of UF in the dark ages. They just don’t know they are in it. Fan bases usually do not know when their team is in these dark times. Some find out early some find out during the middle and some die on that boat.

"The most expensive neighborhood in the country is in the Coral Gables section of Miami, where a home in the gated Gables Estates community is on the market for more than $21 million, according to data compiled by Bloomberg News."

But ya know....wouldn't want to ruin our image....
i wonder where Hogtown's trailer parks sit on this list

As per usual, the ***** Gator fans are whining and moaning about their "QB room" being rated "only" below 18 other QB rooms (including Miami's).

They are much happier with Pro Football Focus putting them at #7.

Seriously, these ****bags are pitching a fit on SwampAss 247 because ESPN has them rated 12 spots lower than PFF. You can't make this **** up...

Keep in mind, Graham Schmutz threw a million 5-yard passes last year, and DJ Lagway is a true freshman, but they think they have a Top 10 QB room...

Yeah, I couldn't wrap my mind around PFF putting them #7. Mertz is the very picture of mediocrity. He's not going to lose them games, but he won't be the reason they win, either. He could be replaced with any of dozens of experienced G5 or lower P4 QBs and the results would be similar. Then they have Lagway, talented but inexperienced and unproven.

Exactly. And to call back to my points on the ESPN quarterback tiers on the main board, look at Mertz's QB rating. It's #18 in the country and a fair bit higher than either TVD or Cam Ward.

First, think about what Mertz did. I don't want to handicap a very good QB on a very bad team by constantly beating the drum on "record" (Florida went 5-7 last year), but it's not like Mertz's great play elevated Florida.

Second, compare Mertz to TVD, because Mertz had slightly better stats and TVD was on the slightly better team (record-wise). Both played in 11 games (though one could argue that TVD did nothing against F$U). Mertz threw more passes and had more completions, but also had an accuracy percentage that was 7.1% higher than TVD. Advantage Mertz. Mertz had a bit more total yardage, but they both had 8.1 yards per attempt. Push. Where Mertz crushes TVD is that he had a 20-3 TD-INT ratio, where TVD was at 19-12.

But then compare Mertz to Ward. They both played for 5-7 teams. Mertz's accuracy percentage was 6.3% higher. Mertz had 0.4 more yards per attempt. Ward had more yardage. Ward had a 25-7 TD-INT ratio.

So...yeah...if you purely go by stats, then it looks like Mertz would edge Ward and have a wider advantage over TVD.

But who is the QB that everyone would want?

Ward wins that one by a wide margin.
