Freshmen impressing

I'm surprised that Crawford isn't mentioned as a candidate for playing time as a freshman at CB, kid looked impressive on film

Crawford will get some time this year IMO, kid is pretty small and needs to add some size though.

Some more notes from what was told to me yesterday by a team source:

- McCord is going to help right away. His mental makeup is impressive and conducive to early playing time.

- Jake O'Donnell came in huge.

- Gabe Terry can really run. His speed translates to Greentree.

- Everybody is on campus right now except Dillard.

- Ereck Flowers will be the best offensive tackle on the team by next year at the latest (I agree).

- Lockhart is turning heads.

- Duke is a little banged up right now but will be fine.

How banged up is Duke, whats wrong?

I was wondering the same thing? Not to be a negative Nancy or anything but how on earth can Duke be banged up? These kids aren't in pads tackling or blocking yet. Red Flag?

Could be a freak thing (pulled hammy/quad) but it's not a good sign when your potential biggest playmaker is "banged" up before actual contact occurs. Makes you wonder if he's going to be able to get out of fall camp unscathed and be ready for the opening game.

Oh well I'll hope for the best I'm sure it's nothing but judging by the past (guys injured during voluntary workouts) it's never a good sign. Rant over.

LULZ, listen to this scary *** ninja... Hey buddy people get banged up all the time working out, training, and doing non-contact stuff. Regardless this is in no way serious at all

Flowers should play role Reggie Youngblood played his freshman year from the first week of the season. Basically, in jumbo sets, he's an extra linemen. If Seantrel is what he can be, he can play the Eric Winston role (moves from side to side).

Those unbalanced sets are the only thing I miss from Whipple ball.
Fisch uses unbalanced sets aswell, he's probably a little more creative/ballsy than whip. If you rewatch the UNC game he had Seantrel at Fullback for a play. It didn't work but it was definitely a great concept.

I am big on Flowers, but then again I was big on Ben Jones at first. Still see the size, movement ability and long a$$ arms and think "if only he actually cared".

thankfully from all indications Flowers gives a ****.

Say what you will about whipple, but the guy was certainly ballsy as **** and a creative OC.

If Whipple was creative, then a friend of mine was psychic.

He could call the plays in advance. Apparently so could opposing defensive coordinators.

He said it was easy. Long pass into double and triple coverage.

I just want all of y'all to know I was the first one on the O'Donnell bandwagon. I told everybody he was gonna be one of those white boy douchebags that every opposing player hates. He gonna be a solid player at worst.

Whipple used Jacory and us as guinea pigs.
There were times where Whipple took it personal if he couldn't throw into 8 man zone coverages and he was always looking to show that he could (via Leach).

It was like Jimmy and Vinny in 86 against Penn St. Except it was every game.

Actually that's a good idea for a thread like the countdown one. Have a different gif or pic each day for a different player or coach that defines or epitomizes their time as a cane. For instance, Jimmy Johnson might be the iconic carried off the field with arms raised shot. Or Tyler McMeans would be a gif/pic of him whiffing a block in true McTurnstile form.

Romeo Davis tackling Josh Nesbitt by the hand warmer.

Lovon Ponder getting stiff-arm'd for 55 yards.

Lance Leggett ducking on an out route against NC State.

Man, there are too many to name...

Those are all perfect! Just what I was going for.

Orien Harris dancing on the sidelines during VT 05 (I think)

Jacory doing the shrug during FSU 09 or if you want to go negative - one of him limping

Coker doing the clap and hat adjustment combo

Shannon doing the arms crossed blank stare "in game coaching" thing

Aldarius grabbing his groin and writhing on the ground

Gavin Hardin crying while trying to pumpup his teammates on the sideline

Spence spearing that Gator player

Spencer Whipple throwing ints in his only on field action

Bosher tackling guys on kickoffs

Can't remember the player, but the infamous TE end-around

Richard Gordon returning kicks

Vilma's monster hit in the Rose bwl

Dude was so smart he didnt need to think his way out of a paper bag. He's just build himself some miniature chairs and sit happily inside the bag.

I was pleasantly surprised by Fisch's ego-free playcalling. I thought he'd be more similar to Whip given his background.
