Freshmen impressing

Did O'Donnell put on good weight?

Yes. He's been working with a big-time trainer.

Good to hear, kid seems athletic and already had some size to him, he could be a big surprise this year.

Yep. People are way too infatuated with speed rushing DE's. Yes, it's huge to have them but you also need guys who can hold the edge and have the strength and motor to maintain that throughout a game. Eventually guys like that (see Chick) will get sacks too just from effort. Hopefully we have one of those here.

And it would be nice to have someone that can give Chick some rest at times, maybe O'Donnell is that guy.

We hear this stuff every year and its hard to get excited about summer chatter anymore, but gents, this feels much different. Might not be immediately, but after 4 years of a dreadful secondary and horrible depth issues everywhere ... finally, with a competent staff, those issues for the very least are over.

Agreed all around. I think when you have big time guys like Duke and Howard getting rave reviews, it's different than the Kendall Thompkins, Mike Williams etc highlights of summer from the past.

Long way to go of course, but with so much riding on this incoming class, you cant help but be encouraged.

I agree. This one just feels different. Really does.

The entitlement is gone and this group (and subsequent groups) will be hardworking and get good coaching. Still needs to be seen, but I think things are about to get much better.

The interesting thing is we've seen Freshmen come in and have an impact here, even under the last two corches.

I think the difference is we're going to stop seeing REGRESSION.

Thanks for the info D. Hope the frosh live up to the hype cuz we're gonna need them to contribute early to have a successful season.

Also our young secondary impressing could also be bad Qb play. So hard to tell until fall.

There is actually a system in place, and these kids are coming in ready to work. The feeling is way different. These guys were probably told when they were recruited that they were going to play a lot as Freshman and instead of that being good enough they came in prepared and are getting after it. I feel like this will push a guy like B. McGee to maximize his potential because he's seeing these freshman coming in hungry to take his job. Love this ****.

- Ereck Flowers will be the best offensive tackle on the team by next year at the latest (I agree).

im a big Flowers fan. But if he's our best tackle next year, that doesnt say much for Seantrel and Bunch.

To me, it's more about how advanced Flowers is in the weight room, classroom and field.

I am a big fan of Flowers as well, kid plays mean, is nimble for his size and will push Bunche and Henderson for their jobs IMO.

Another big change is the kid's attitudes towards work ethics and success. They now they have to work hard and they know that success will not be immediate. They are willing to put in the time, be hungry and patient, and fight for everything. The 08 and 09 classes really lacked that type of attitude which lead to a lot of regression.

Im just sayin, next year SH will be a senior and Bunch, in his fifth year out of HS. They should be better than ereck.

But i dont put it past Flowers to be better than them. Im on record as liking him more than Franklin as a prospect, and i raved about Orlando. i actually like Flowers as a prospect more than Seantrel at the same stage. But Im curious to see what Henderson can become, as many seem to think his potential is unreal.

First time I started watching Flowers I thought, holy ****, that's the "Seantrel Henderson" potential that people trumpeted when they heard the Henderson hype.

People talked about Theus being the #1 lineman in Florida last year, maybe the country, and there was nothing he did better than Flowers IMO.

Wasn't SH compared to J. Ogden and O. Pace during the recruiting process, if so I hope he starts to maximize that potential.

Yeah he was just so **** big and athletic that its actually hard to imagine he hasnt started from day 1 at LT. Just shows you, it's not so simple. Obviously we had more access to Flowers and his games but he had that mean streak that you hope for. Also, you saw a lot of improvement from Flowers in his senior year, just like Duke.
