Freshmen impressing

im a big Flowers fan. But if he's our best tackle next year, that doesnt say much for Seantrel and Bunch.

To me, it's more about how advanced Flowers is in the weight room, classroom and field.
Im just sayin, next year SH will be a senior and Bunch, in his fifth year out of HS. They should be better than ereck.

But i dont put it past Flowers to be better than them. Im on record as liking him more than Franklin as a prospect, and i raved about Orlando. i actually like Flowers as a prospect more than Seantrel at the same stage. But Im curious to see what Henderson can become, as many seem to think his potential is unreal.

Wasn't SH compared to J. Ogden and O. Pace during the recruiting process, if so I hope he starts to maximize that potential.

Yeah he was just so **** big and athletic that its actually hard to imagine he hasnt started from day 1 at LT. Just shows you, it's not so simple. Obviously we had more access to Flowers and his games but he had that mean streak that you hope for. Also, you saw a lot of improvement from Flowers in his senior year, just like Duke.

I love the mean streak Flowers has in his game.

Flowers should play role Reggie Youngblood played his freshman year from the first week of the season. Basically, in jumbo sets, he's an extra linemen. If Seantrel is what he can be, he can play the Eric Winston role (moves from side to side).

That would be a scary unbalanced line, my god, that's nearly 700lbs of human on one side of the line.

Glad to hear some of my favorite guys - Ereck Flowers and Robert Lockhart - are impressing.

How good do you think R. Lockhart can be out of the gate?

Impossible to say right now. I liked him a lot because he was exceptional out of his breaks and had excellent acceleration. I don't know a single thing about his mental aspect, and that's what will decide how quickly he transitions to this level.

To make things easier for him, I'd envision him seeing a decent amount of bubble screens and drag routes early on.

I can live with that to get him into the offense.

Don't know bout you guys, but this has me officially pumped for the season.

Some more notes from what was told to me yesterday by a team source:

- McCord is going to help right away. His mental makeup is impressive and conducive to early playing time.

- Jake O'Donnell came in huge.

- Gabe Terry can really run. His speed translates to Greentree.

- Everybody is on campus right now except Dillard.

- Ereck Flowers will be the best offensive tackle on the team by next year at the latest (I agree).

- Lockhart is turning heads.

- Duke is a little banged up right now but will be fine.

How banged up is Duke, whats wrong?

Those unbalanced sets are the only thing I miss from Whipple ball.

Very, very competitive. Interesting you mentioned his quickness out of breaks. That trait surprised me in person. I expected him to be bigger, but he's Chris Chambers big with the long arms and big hands.

I was wondering the same thing? Not to be a negative Nancy or anything but how on earth can Duke be banged up? These kids aren't in pads tackling or blocking yet. Red Flag?

Could be a freak thing (pulled hammy/quad) but it's not a good sign when your potential biggest playmaker is "banged" up before actual contact occurs. Makes you wonder if he's going to be able to get out of fall camp unscathed and be ready for the opening game.

Oh well I'll hope for the best I'm sure it's nothing but judging by the past (guys injured during voluntary workouts) it's never a good sign. Rant over.

I'm surprised that Crawford isn't mentioned as a candidate for playing time as a freshman at CB, kid looked impressive on film

Great news. Other than safety, CB and DE are our biggest needs right now. God to hear some of tha freshmens took it seriously and have come in strong and ready to keep working.

Also, how's Lockhart's speed looking? I know a few people questioned his 'top end' speed, so I'm curious how it looks in the real world.

Yeah, I like Flowers a lot (size, strength and agility), but if he's our best tackle next year, yikes.

Unbalanced lines are a Kehoe hallmark!! They were Kehoe's brainchild - not Whip's.
