MEGA Frenk Out - Who Next?

Nope. Not meant to be creepy. One of the 5 best posters on CI. I would say the same for Cribby and a couple of others. They all give great information and insight.

I will say, if you like @SWFLHurricane 's posts, he's an even better in-person guy. Hilarious, and always ready to tell a Gator fan where he can stick his "gator chomp"...

University is in a sad state. Could be a powerhouse with all the momentum Miami has had as a city since the lock downs, and instead it's been slipping on arguably all fronts. Academically it's a joke and basically sun tan U for rich kids all over again. Went to UHealth for an annual check up recently and even that was a disaster, no idea what management is doing over there. This is a chance to breath some life into the ship with some dynamic up and comer but I'm not holding my breath.

There's no problem with a corporate leader filling in on an interim basis in a situation like this. He has deep respect for the faculty and the academic mission of the institution. He knows how to lead people. But a permanent president needs to be a member of the faculty and it would be problematic otherwise.
a member of the faculty is NOT the way to go in my opinion, but who knows

Thank you

I can’t even reply to the porsters defending her because “she cared more about athletics than Frenk ever did.” That is called a straw man argument. Shalala should rot in ****. The photo of her with Nevin at the bowling alley is her legacy in my mind. She cared about nothing except for money.

Frenk is just a clueless dolt hired because of race.
you mean ethnicity since he is white.

We aren’t where we were, perception wise, during the mid-aughts height. True.

But the 2018 and 2020 changes that USNWR adopted in their metrics basically guarantee that we’ll never sniff the top 30 in those rankings ever again. Is what it is. I haven’t been involved on campus in close to 10 years now, so I don’t have any basis for an opinion myself, but if you’re basing your “academically it’s a joke” premise on that magazine, definitely don’t hold your breath waiting for it to change (drastically) for the better.

All due respect that is not remotely consistent with what I see.

I mention sports! Still UHealth still a cash cow and funding sports. The UM issue is that they are still operating under the Ivy league mentality.. which we are not and is not our student demographic.
Shalala, although almost totally bungled, birthed UHealth.

Without UHealth today (saved by Echevarria really), hard to say where UM overall would be, but proabably not near as good. UHealth is an emerging cash juggernaut.

Maybe Echevarria stays as President, who knows, probably not, but who knows.
