MEGA Frenk Out - Who Next?

I saw on here he got $1,600,000 at Miami which is approximately $1,004,000 after taxes.
He is getting around $950,000 at UCLA which is approximately $496,000 after taxes.
What else is in his package (pause)?
Ucla is a state school, ie. PUBLICLY FUNDED.

Also, this could be a situation like how Mario handled dumping Gattis - let Gattis get his next gig lined up without any public embarrassment due to firing.

I am not sure, I was just posting the initial info I saw. I am sure there is more that he is getting but overall it doesn't appear, at least from a pure financial standpoint, that he fell upwards.

I'm always skeptical that academic types will marginalize athletics. Maybe that's an unwarranted stereotype. But I'd kind of prefer folks like Frenk that seemingly stayed out of the way than the flip-side, which is someone too involved, which I always assume would likely have negative not positive repercussions.
no president really gives a **** about athletics. its such a small part of an overall university and they really dont rely on athletics for their major funding. you guys really have to stop thinking presidents put athletics to the forefront. eventually, they will be run as their separate business (i think texas already does this).

Running FSU is a much more inherently political job though. Thrasher couldn't even answer basic questions about how to apply for research grants at his early town halls with faculty. A non academic hire like that here would truly be catastrophic internally. At an absolute minimum we'd hemorrhage disgruntled faculty and it would be open season for peer institutions to poach us like crazy. And faculty poached bring their grant money with them when they go.
Great insight. Thanks

Failing up is relative to one's position and leverage. I am totally biased on this - I think Frenk is a useless a$z whole.

Once I'm done with my temper tantrum I might be capable of responding like a grown up... but it's unlikely. I mean look at my stupid user name. :)

If the Maudes need to establish a separate Bruin Tears thread, I'm fine with that.

Until then, enjoy:

You get he’s an interim president, right? Your post makes no sense.
I posted this before I saw the announcement about Echevarria. Partially as a joke just like they did in football and baseball and being the Miami way.

It just worked out that way.

Although, wouldn’t be surprised if Echevarria is more than interim when it’s all said and done.

Well he could still be better than their previous guy… like what if the previous guy didn’t care like frenk, but also wasn’t willing to listen to the people who had good plans, or wasn’t willing to spend. Frenk may now understand the PR impact football can have and was why he agreed to open the checkbooks. Maybe that’s all UCLA needs? Idk. None of that is me saying Frenk was good. He just may be relatively better than what they had. Idk UCLAs situation to say for sure… Frank was certainly better (for athletics) the last 2 yrs than he was the first however many. Even if they weren’t his decisions, he allowed the funding for it.

If he really wants it, he's going to have to give them no choice by fixing things sooner rather than later. Start with the law school. The alumni are very vocal about their displeasure. Do everything you can to make them your champions in this fight.

You wouldn’t be surprised? Are you serious? Zero chance. Zero point zero. Can I make it any clearer?

Net probably in the negative with the taxes and COL in California
How about the state funded pension?

UM is not a state school. I don't know what his contract was at UM; what was included and not included. Maybe he had some sort of University funded retirement account, maybe not.

I don't really care that much. I'm glad he's gone.
