Final Four vs. UCONN - 4/1 8:49pm EDT on CBS

Just joined this board to wish ya'll the best of luck on Saturday. I'm a Duke alum and proud of it. But I root for the ACC in the tournament (just not that school from Chapel Hill). Though I always wanted to beat you guys when we played, I've always respected Larranaga and his program, and the players he recruits. I've really liked Wong for years. I think he would have worked out great in the Duke system. He was a worthy ACC POY, and I'd love to see him get the FF MOP. And I wish I knew Omier was healthy at the start of the tourney. I picked Miami for the S16. But if he was healthy, I probably would have had them in the FF, too. He's so solid and key for this team. I'm not afraid to admit that the ACCs might have been different if Omier hadn't gotten hurt. It also doesn't hurt that you are playing UConn on Saturday, a school I have little respect for (though I have no problem with Danny Hurley, Calhoun left a stink on that program that exists for me to this day). UConn has looked good, but they still need to play well again to win - there's absolutely no guarantee of that. The competition just gets better and better in the tourney, and Miami is as tough as they come. So bottom line: Go 'Canes! Win another natty for the ACC!
Welcome aboard! Thanks for showing an interest. Be prepared for for a myriad of responses! Hopefully you’ll stick around and we’ll give you reason to!!!

Appreciate it.. Honestly kinda weird to accept coming from one of the perennial top teams in the league/country, Love or hate Duke is definitely one of the standards and we always love to play and take you guys down. Maybe its the football in me that doesnt relate but I have seen many Duke and other acc fans rooting for us in Tourney. Maybe its how likeable Coach L is and/or the team overall but its definitely an interesting dynamic on the basketball end. I always look forward to ACC play and the players like Wong have commented how conference play has prepared them for this, would be amazing to get a basketball title in Miami..

Go Canes! :dbc:

Hurley says he's talked to Jay Wright, Coach K and Jim Calhoun, former UConn coach. Got advice on scheduling practices for the week, general tips on travel and bench set ups, etc...... Said he really picked their collective brains about the Final Four experience.

Also said he's known Jim Larranaga for years. Knows him from Jim's NY connections. Mentioned that coach L text him in the past on various occasions... Seems to have a great deal of respect for Coach L...

A popular betting guy said what I thought was interesting.. he said that UCONN might lose some of the momentum they had with the many days in between games.

Always an issue in tournament play moving week to week.

Only reason we lost to Duke was Omier going down. No way they beat us that game otherwise.

We are actually built to be an excellent tournament because we have proven we can score in the paint or outside if they pack it in or run when it is there. Just so versatile.

Last 15 games our leading scorers:
Wong 3
Pack 4
Omier 3
Poplar 1
Miller 4
Find me another team with this versatility?
Going into the season the things we knew this team had that we’re going to make us a dangerous team to play was great guard play, a bunch of guys that can get their own shot, no over reliance on one guy, a ton of experience, an excellent free-throw shooting. All three of those have been on full display this year and especially in the second half of the game against Texas.
