Feldman on Miami & Golden

He is a good face and stabilized the program but not the coach to bring us to the elite level. Sorry but 8-4 at temple is not elite by miami old standards. He didnt win championship there, also temple was a mac program then.

9 wins at temple is like 12 wins here.. it's too soon to say golden is not the dude for the job, considering the amount of years of futility before he got here, 3 years is not enough time to get it done.

God this is one of the biggest myths that the Don Bailey Jr crowd busts out in defense of the Temple boys.

I don't have the stat on me...but someone on this board already broke down not only those "9 wins" but all his wins at Temple...the facts are he beat HORRIBLE opponents.

It's the equivalent of saying you have a BORDERLINE top 10 recruting class but have 30+ expected in the class.

Quantity over Quality. If I had to sum up Golden in 3 words it would be those.....quantity over quality.

But hey...keep on with the Don Bailey Jr battle cry.

you do realize it's temple right? people are somehow forgetting IT"S TEMPLE.. he wasn't playing with a Bama's roster against 'horrible opponents".. IT"S ****ING TEMPLE.. jesus christ..

Exactly....IT'S ALL ****ING RELATIVE. JESUS CHRIST IS RIGHT
?
so you understand it's all relative and you're still *****ing? that doesn't make any sense.

Yes exactly it's all relative. So 9 wins don't mean **** when you're beating 8 St Brendans and 1 Lourdes academy.

### Negativity has swirled among some UM football fans, with many upset about defensive coordinator Mark D’Onofrio and the four blowout losses this past season. Associates say Al Golden has grown weary of some of the criticism.

“What the **** do people want?” one high ranking UM Board of Trustee member said. “Does anyone realize what the NCAA thing did to us? That team this year was an ordinary team, and we went 9-4. It will take three years to build this up, but this is the right guy to do it.”

3 MORE YEARS...LULZ we fu%$ed

If the team goes 6-6 or worse, he's gone. Almost all of the goodwill Golden built up with the administration by sticking with us through the NCAA has evaporated since he flirted with Penn State. He made them look inept and foolish and that burned Shalala and James and it's continued not to sit well with them. This particular Board member must have the biggest crush on Golden if they're delusional enough to think that the fanbase will accept a current two year rebuilding process with apparently three more on the horizon. On top of that, that long of a rebuilding process is ridiculous even for the severity of the NCAA saga. Golden has gotten more than enough talent to compete with Louisville and Virginia Tech as well as beating Wake Forest and North Carolina by large margins. The results of this season will reveal whether he is or is not the right man for the job to even his most steadfast supporters or his most ardent critics.

If the season stumbles to a 6-6 record, Golden will not change the scheme and furthermore will not fire D'Onofrio. At the conclusion of the season, I would guess that Golden's, "weariness," of the fans will start to show and one way or another, he will no longer be the coach here.

Only way he's gone after next season is under his own will. This inept and incompetent administration will give him 2 more years. He'd have to walk into the Hobbit's office naked to get fired.

I would have agreed with that completely if he hadn't held the school hostage for 3 days and ****ed of the administrators. If, and this is a big if, the team goes 6-6 and it's ugly, like 40 point loss to Florida State ugly, the fanbase will be on the brink of leaving and I think the school will cave in and fire Golden. An unacceptable loss to Arkansas State or someone like that and he'll be fired before he can shake hands with Blake Anderson.

I know I'm speculating about something way into the future but this really is do-or-die year for Golden. If the quality of play does not improve from last year the team will finish in the 6-6 range, the fans will call for Golden's head, and the administration will/should cave.

Sorry brother....but you and I have a different definition of relative success. If homeboy would have actually WON that crappy *** MAC...then you'd have a leg to stand on.

He's a fraud...and I am as guilty as anyone for initially falling for his used car salesman, corporate cliche walking persona. Seeing as I work in Corporate America I forgive myself even less for not identifying his type earlier.

I really felt like this was Coach Golden's season to really load up on the chits, but instead he let them slip away. We returned the most players with playing experience of any ACC team; we played the weakest schedule in ages; he lead us to a victory over uf to his credit; but his unwillingness to change our defensive scheme or to hold our DC accountable cost us a chance at the ACC Championship game (twice) this season and probably his chance of returning after next season.

I agree but injuries also played a part in our late season collapse. Take the best player off a CFB team and you'll feel the effects.

5, 7, 9....

Recruiting classes ranked #1, #8 and #13.

Yeah, we seem to be headed in the wrong direction. You guys can't see Shannon has us on an upward trajectory

- the same uneducated fans in 2010

You'd be hard-pressed to find a coach who is as bad as Golden when it comes to preparation, gameday management, and performance against good teams. This is his farewell tour.

You figure idiots would've learned to dig deeper into the statistics after they showed their *** with the Shannon support. Golden gets his *** kicked by every decent team he faces. He has nowhere to hide with this year's schedule. The nightmare will be over by this time next season.

honestly, Shannon was a better gameday coach and Xs and Os guy than FhAG. the 2010 team coulda/shoulda been pretty **** good but the wheels came flying off of that one when J12 got murked at UVA.

the point I'm trying to make is that some could have stuck with Randy a lot longer than FhAG IMO. I was completely done with Randy after the 2010 FSU game.

I was done with FhAG after the VT game and the Dook game was just another kick in the nutz. anyone who cant see it now is retarded

First three seasons:

Shannon:
21-17
Avg Schedule strength: 24
Espn avg class rank: 7

Golden:
22-15
Avg Schedule strength: 53
Espn avg class rank: 10

Golden has a bunch of dudes in love because he was well-spoken at his presser. He's formal Randy Shannon.

Not sure what you're trying prove with this comparison except that you're incapable of thinking in abstract and can only digest information on a concrete basis. Typical analysis of a low level thinker.
Looking deeper into that comparison unveils a coach who came in at a disadvantage compared to his predecessor since he didn't know players the players he inherited, unlike Shannon who knew what he was inheriting. Did'n't have the recruiting contacts and relationships built.
Had the disadvantage of a major scandal the would rock the program for 3 critical years blow up in his face 2 weeks before his 1st game.
Had to deal with uncertainty, suspensions, that the NCAA investigations brought and not to mention the negative recruiting that ensued.
Had to deal with the ongoing investigations of his players and resulting low player moral when it was revealed that school would self impose 2 bowl bans. Had to deal with the not getting the benefit of the extra practice time and experience younger players would have gotten had they not self imposed the said bowl bans while his main acc competition did.
Mind you the above Shannon did not have to deal with and yet Golden has a better overall record and can be argued that has pulled better classes.
So no, he's not a formal Randy. THINK beyond what's in front of your face.

LOLOLOLOL

the 2007 depth chart was a complete and utter dumpster fire.

the 2011 team had a lot of talent on it. granted most of it left after that season, but the coaching deficiencies of F.A.G. and co have been on full display since game 1

Guess we'll see, i was right about Randy, and we'll see how it goes with Golden, but there's nothing I've seen thus far to make me think he's not "the guy".. granted the defense has been deplorable, but so has the talent on that side of the ball, so it makes sense.

2014 will really be Golden's first year! Yeah! That's the ticket!

The same people claiming that were aping the same BS in 20190 with Radio, and 2006 with Fester!

If you haven't seen it by now...it could fall from the heavens, land on your head, and you'd still be searching for the answers.

Which part of giving up 500 yard plus games in 6 or 7 consecutive games, fading down the stretch, not killing it in recruiting, and getting blown out by teams that have no business blowing us out confuses you?

Don't talk to me about Randy...I didn't like that hire from day 1. I remember on Grassy it was basically myself, mapcane, and maybe a couple others on an island on that one too.

For as bad as Randy was the only angle that Golden has on him is public speaking...otherwise they're respective levels of retardedness are pretty comparable.

There were quite a few against the Shannon hire myself included. They needed to clean house and the fan base played the Cane card as the reason it was a good hire.

other than his first "class" the randy abomination, recruiting has been going pretty good... like i said, our defensive talent has been pretty bad so giving up 500 yards a game is not really surprising, his first real class is will be juniors this year.... we should start seeing what we should expect out of golden teams, this year.. either way, golden isn't going anywhere unless we completely crap the bed this year.. that'd be 4-6 win season.. anything past 8, and golden is coming back and the administration will have no qualms with that.. why? because they have proper perspective on what we were when golden got here, and what it will take to get it right.

Going "pretty good" doesn't cut it when you gameday coaching skills are as bad as this staffs are.

Going "pretty good" doesn't cut it when your place of employment happens to be located smack **** in the middle of the most fertile recruiting territory in the United States.

Keep singing your tune.

Golden has proved to be a worthless gameday coach. But please, don't even mention Radio in the same breath. Radio was the worst of all time, which is why not even HS teams want him.

Coker was terrible, Radio was worse.

Seriously. Radio didn't even have any idea what was going on. He couldn't tell you the score, the time, the quarter or who had the ball.

IMO this team stumbles to 7 or 8 wins this season and then Golden will need to prove himself to save his job in 2015 with no NCAA cloud or talent deficiency or injury bug or whatever other excuses to lean on. Hopefully for his sake, by that time Jameis heads to the NFL and maybe just maybe AG can hold a recruiting class together without it falling apart on him, and THEN we can see them possibly compete for an ACC title. With that said, I really believe that is the ceiling for expectations for the next two seasons, so anybody who has their sights on larger goals, needs to come back down to Earth. Not saying I like this, just saying it appears to be the most likely outcome.

AG has made it clear that he and Onofrio will get it right or go down with the ship together. Let's see what happens before rushing to judgement. If next season they run out another bottom 30 defense and get embarrassed by every good team they play, then feel free to gas up the jet and fly banners over Sun Life in 2015. Until then, I say we give AG our support...while hoping Butch stays unemployed for two more years. ;-)

Being objective...

I like Golden and I do think he deserves a little longer to get things going considering the mess he walked into.

However...

In year 3 you expect to see some improvement. Yeah we went 9-4 but this team wasn't much different than last year's team. We nearly lost to two inferior teams and got our breaks beat off by any team with a pulse. We got our asses whooped by Duke and VT. Let that sink in.

We allow every team we play to break season records against us. They look better against Miami than they did/do against all their other opponents.

I'm not looking at the 9-4 record, I'm looking at what COULD'VE been and what SHOULD'VE been. Honestly, we should've finished 11-2 this year. We had no business being blown out by VT and Duke. FSU and Louisville would've been tough games regardless. You can make all the excuses you want about lack of talent but other teams who lack talent faired much better against some of the teams we played. After a month to prepare we looked completely UNPREPARED in the bowl game and got our asses whooped up and down the field.

Going 9-4 wouldn't be something to complain about if the games were atleast close and we looked like we belonged on the same field as our opponents. That wasn't the case though, we got our asses whooped, showing that we're not even CLOSE to where we need to be. The record also wouldn't be something to complain about if next year looked promising, but it doesn't. It appears that next year will be more of the same. This great recruiting class that everybody is optimistic about will take atleast another 2 years before they can make a difference. That's 5 years into Golden's regime.

I just don't know. *shrug*

I don't think VT is on the staff, how many turnovers did we have that lead to short *** fields for VT? That was just bad execution by our players that made it easy for VT to put up points.. duke, especially offensively, was pretty good this year, as was seen in their bowl game.. this is not like losing to the duke of 3-4 years ago.. and we're not the miami of 14 years ago, either.

honestly, our worst loss is VT, and that's because of the mistakes we made.
