This is the way to go. Offer this kid and offer Hollomon's brother. Then we will get Hollomon and Lingard. If we do this with every five star kid, we can get 12 five star kids every year.

black manipulation matters

Kid doesn't want money or cars, he simply wants his cousin (who can ball) to come along for the ride.

That's money. UM costs about $50K per year now. Plus housing and food. He wants UM to give the cousin who isn't cut out for this level all that money.

Yeah its 60k/yr....but at least it would be split into 2 players (for Avantae too). But still 30k/yr for 4 years is 120k. So yeah he basically is asking for a **** load of money.
But, This kid is probably better and more worthy of a scholarship than quite a few players currently on our team.

We're not recruiting to the level of the bad players on the roster. The object of recruiting is to recruit better players than the ones currently on the roster. We're not looking to add more FIU level guys like Henley. In fact, we've been actively moving those guys out to improve the roster.

If they're dead set on playing together then I'm sure Rick would be open to letting the crummy cousin come in next year after Lingard signs his NLOI. No need to be a desperate sucker who gets played by a 17 year old. They can come in together next year if they're dead set on playing together.

Lingard is worth two scholarships. Tweed said the kid is willing to walk-on and if that's the case than there is no real reason not to offer that.

If he's willing to walk on then there's no need to discuss any of this. Anyone can try out for the team. We have all kinds of terrible walk-ons on the team. Walk-ons have to pay tuition though.

this attitude is why we play checkers not chess... its cutthroat out there. offer a job to the parent. get the brother in school. get the cousin a track schollie. find a way. ASKING HIM TO WALK ON is losers mentality

But seriously, Tweed whats the gameplan here?

Is he just going to commit and attend whatever P5 school offers him?
I'd assume he'll wait till after NSD to sign any NLI.

But If I'm being real honest I think that it's most likely this kid will not receive a P5 offer, and end up going to USF, FAU, FIU. And considering who's coaching those teams and the fact that he'd probably be one of those schools best recruits, it isn't a bad thing. But I also find it hard to believe that Lingard and Avantae would follow him to one of those schools.

So I think the real question is, when LJ chooses USF, which school do Lingard and Avantae want to go to? Are we the team to beat?

The object of recruiting is to fill out your roster as well. YOU say we're not looking to add "FIU level guys", but fact of the matter is, the guys YOU think should be here don't want to be here. LJ is a kid that wants to be here & his cousin Lo is simply trying to push for his cousin to get an offer, be it football or track. (which other schools have already offered).

Chise, you have stated your opinion numerous times already, I hear you loud and clear sir.

Why all the negative comments and names towards the young man?

You started a new thread so I came here to discuss it. Ill continue discussing the topic with you and the others here.

As for the names it's a sign of affection.

We need players. We have scholarships available. He can play multiple positions of need. How is this being viewed as a negative?

It's a negative because he's an FIU/FAU level recruit. Look at his offers. You're saying he's a baller, but no bigtime P5 schools agree with you. In your initial post, you say it's ALMOST guaranteed Lingard comes if we sign the Group 5 level cousin.
"Almost" is a very important qualifier.

What's to stop the cousin from transferring out of UM to Ohio Taint next year if Lingard decides he wants to go there and Urb makes the deal at that point?

Not too many coaches are going to be gullible enough to offer the gimpy cousin a year ahead of Lingard signing. If they were in the same class it would make a lot more sense.

****, Rick could even say, "Sign with us in 2018, and your cousin Tiny Tim can transfer in if he wants. He'll have a scholarship waiting as soon as you sign yours." That's how you play this if you're smart.

If he's willing to walk on, he's probably willing to sit out a year.

That's exactly what he should do. Sit out till 2018. Then as soon as Lingard signs his NLOI you hand one to Tiny Tim. That's how you work a package deal. You don't take the lame part of the package a year before the main course.

If we take this kid this year and Lingard doesn't sign in 2018 we aren't stuck with Coleman for four years. We can drop him if he doesn't perform in practice. It's a win-win to take him.

Best case scenario is it lands us two future five stars and he's a contributor. Worst case we don't get the two five stars and we tell the kid to transfer after a year.

Being a simp and getting played is loser's mentality. You guys have no clue how to make deals or negotiate.

You don't sign an FIU player in 2017 with the ALMOST guarantee of getting the 5 star in 2018. Package deal is fine, but Lingard needs to sign before Tiny Tim. Otherwise, you're a checkers playing simp.

You know everyone on our board and all the guys who are willing to come here? You are certain we're not going to sign high level guys this cycle?

Chise, this thread was started back in October sir. The "almost" was something that I wasn't sure of at the time. That uncertainty has since been cleared up.

So you're guaranteeing if we sign this Lawerence Coleman kid the two five stars will sign on the dotted line for Miami when the time comes? That's a big call.

Lo tweeted out the same exact thing tonight.

What will it take to get the staff to offer Coleman?

If that's what it takes to get Lo, why don't they just get it done?

I honestly think it will get done. Miami was already looking at LJ as a possible track scholarship guy that will walk-on to the football team.

Well in that situation worst case is wasting $60k and a spot that could have been filled by someone else in the 2018 class.
