well I dont like the idea of this kid getting a scholarship that isnt a football one. I would actually be dissapointed in that. Unless you can get into Miami and Earn an academic scholly without the help of the Athletic Department, you dont deserve a non-athletic scholarship. That to me is very unfair to other students.

I do think we should offer him a footbal scholly. hopefully this kid is willing to wait until after NSD to make his decision
Who gives a fck what u think .

Anyone who went to the University of Miami probably feels the same way.
Also doubt our Administration would actually do this.
We may not be stanford when it comes to stuff like this and grades, but we have standards.

I think this kid is deserving of a football scholarship. If he doesn't get that, than he has to actually get in to the school the same way everyone else does. Once he gets in he can get academic and need based scholarships.

black manipulation matters

Kid doesn't want money or cars, he simply wants his cousin (who can ball) to come along for the ride.

That's money. UM costs about $50K per year now. Plus housing and food. He wants UM to give the cousin who isn't cut out for this level all that money.

Lingard is worth two scholarships. Tweed said the kid is willing to walk-on and if that's the case than there is no real reason not to offer that.

We need players. We have scholarships available. He can play multiple positions of need. How is this being viewed as a negative?

Yeah its 60k/yr....but at least it would be split into 2 players (for Avantae too). But still 30k/yr for 4 years is 120k. So yeah he basically is asking for a **** load of money.
But, This kid is probably better and more worthy of a scholarship than quite a few players currently on our team.

Lingard is a BIG TIME prospect, you do what it takes to land him, period. If that means taking a cousin who doesn't look half bad and at worst is a special teams contributor than you do that without blinking.

I wish we would drop off bags like the teams with discreet boosters but if we can't do that than we HAVE to do stuff like this. Play the game or keep losing, simple as that.

We Agree on this

It's a negative because he's an FIU/FAU level recruit. Look at his offers. You're saying he's a baller, but no bigtime P5 schools agree with you. In your initial post, you say it's ALMOST guaranteed Lingard comes if we sign the Group 5 level cousin.
"Almost" is a very important qualifier.

What's to stop the cousin from transferring out of UM to Ohio Taint next year if Lingard decides he wants to go there and Urb makes the deal at that point?

Not too many coaches are going to be gullible enough to offer the gimpy cousin a year ahead of Lingard signing. If they were in the same class it would make a lot more sense.

****, Rick could even say, "Sign with us in 2018, and your cousin Tiny Tim can transfer in if he wants. He'll have a scholarship waiting as soon as you sign yours." That's how you play this if you're smart.

Tweed: If this kid gets an offer or walkon, will Lingard commit February 2017 and agree not to take visits? That is the bottom line

Chise, you have stated your opinion numerous times already, I hear you loud and clear sir.

If he's willing to walk on then there's no need to discuss any of this. Anyone can try out for the team. We have all kinds of terrible walk-ons on the team. Walk-ons have to pay tuition though.

If he's willing to walk on, he's probably willing to sit out a year.
