DC Candidates

I'm totally bummed about Banks - we didn't get him, it sounds like he went to one of our rivals and the reason he didn't accept the role is very concerning regarding Mario.

Holy frick! Here we go again! Another Cane HC who's going to allow his lack of willingness to give up control on the D to another Alpha for...whatever reasons.

If he's going this route, then either give the keys to Ed O or Fitz and start working towards improving the D. I'm an eternal optimist, but I gotta say - this is concerning from a big picture perspective. Oh well... Go Canes....

If this is the case it’s a massive mistake on Mario’s part that could doom him long term. He needs a DC that’s fully empowered to change the defense too to bottom.

Pay attention thats not what I said. They make a hire of 1 assistant coach and maybe a couple analysts but the majority of the positions coaches are made by the head coach hence why I said hardly any coordinator hires their own "staff"

dude we could hire Saban and you would just be like Im so upset we didnt get coach D. he went to UCF. Loss for Mario.

How did we lose someone we didnt offer? the sides were not near a deal.

No, coordinators dont' make any hires....the HC does. You're claiming a coordinator makes a least one hire and a couple of analysts, and that's silly. The coordinator can request, but he has no power to hire. It's silly to suggest they do.

"Hardly" ...pay attention....there will always be the exceptions like Lashlee here when Manny hired but thats not the norm. Not even Venables hired his own staff when Dabo brought him over from Oklahoma

I appreciate your insider info. It just sounded like we could've made this happen, but Mario was making a decision that may not help the program. But, I have zero first hand knowledge, so I'm just forming opinions based on the different Cane pundits.

So, NYCANE (what part of NY?), what's your latest take on the DC position? As of this morning, what do you expect to happen and when?

I dont know. to be honest. no one knows with Mario.

You pay attention. I’m saying NO coordinators make a hire. None of them do. They can request for their own assistants but they don’t hire them. You are claiming that some coordinators do….”hardly” is still more than zero.

For clarity's sake - no, that's not how I would be. There's no altrernate universe where this happens, but if it did, of course I'd be all on board. Heck, whoever MC chooses, I will initially try to look at the positives. I just believe that Banks would've been very good for our D and that's what I want. My #1 is Leonard(Sp?).

I'm not an eternal mope, I'm an optimistic pragmatist. I'm just sick of underperforming for 2 decades. I'm not expecting us to outcoach other teams, I would just like it if we were decent at D coordinating throughout the season.

I almost have the feeling that the top options on the board will not be who we end up with. It’ll be another up and comer situation who is a yes man and not an alpha. Seems to be where this is headed. I just do not see this tenure ending well.

This is what makes CIS great reading. 90% of the stuff that comes out of posters mouthes is made up stuff or something they read on X. It makes for some really funny reading. Like anyone other than maybe Cribby know what's actually going on behind closed doors. It's a joke.

I guess it is a balance of keeping who he likes as recruiters. JT and DNich are probably non negotiable. Salavea has been a guy Mario has had around him since Oregon and maybe wants to keep that Polynesian connection.

Not sure any DC worth their salt who wouldn't want some say in personnel. So you right be right, unfortunately.

Mario is so stubborn it’s insane. The way he handles staff and hirings is horrendous

I’m sure he would be able to bring a guy or 2 like every other coordinator in cfb
