DC Candidates

Wonder if Mario is getting or has the rep of not someone you want to work for

According to what Flo said on his podcast last night, whoever the new DC is will need to accept certain personnel on defense that Mario wants to retain. Banks wasn't willing to accept that. This would obviously go against the idea of getting a DC to run the whole show on that side. I am sure they would want to make their own personnel decisions in that case.

just playing devils advocate here, but can you prove that he did?
That's my point. No one can. But I think I've offered the best evidence. Guidry was hired prior to those other moves were made. If one had to draw a conclusion, I think the most likely conclusion is that Guidry was in some way influential in Mario hiring the LB coach and promoting Taylor.

What criticism? I not criticizing anything I'm just saying coordinators hardly ever hire their own staff. Period...influence? I'm sure Mario asked Guidry's opinion which is normal but he didn't make the hires. Thats just not how Mario runs his program. Who on offense did shannon dawson hire? Nobody
No coordinator makes hires lol. That's just silly.

Oh Clemson did hire him I missed that.
If he was hired, it hasn't been announced. Clemson just announced this morning they officially fired Wes Goodwin. Dabo put out a statement that said he met with Goodwin and that he was making a change.
Also said he was working to have the position filled by the end of the month, if not sooner.

Guess we will see

If the rumors about Banks not wanting to work with some of the existing staff at Miami are true, it will be telling if he has objections to any of Dabo's guys... Dabo doesn't fire easily

the only existing staff that are safe on field imo are JT and D Nic and D Nic is negotiable for the right coach.

Has it been confirmed that banks does not want to work with certain folks or rather, he wants to bring in some of his guys? They are 2 very different issues.

And if that’s indeed the case, I can’t imagine there’s a sacred cow on this defensive staff - even Joe/JT. All units underperformed and coordinators typically bring in 1-2 of their guys on staff.

Yes teams do clean up but legit programs don’t make three horrible coordinator hires in three years then have to fire them. That’s unheard of for any coach worth their salt. It’s almost hard to do. But that’s part of the deal when you have a CEO type that doesn’t have his hands on one side of the ball.

I can’t think of another major p4 school that has this much staff turnover both with coordinators and position coaches. And Im not including staffs where coaches ended up going pro (ie upward mobility)

Work on the reading comprehension. I did not mention those guys as DCs. I said “around the program”. Orgeron has been around UM a lot because of his son. And Fitz might be brought in as a consultant. Just read what I wrote and don’t assume I randomly tossed out names. I don’t waste my time doing that.
Always appreciate your worldly advice. Curious to see if Coach O lands an official role. Can only hope he wasn’t informally advising Guidry.
