DAY 4 PRACTICE THREAD

Lets not forget how this defense made pretty much every Qb we faced last year look like Heisman finalists...

Here we go again. Somebody trying to draw some sort of conclusion about a unit based on practices against their teammates.

Why can't we just wait to bash the defense?

If they stink, we'll know it very soon. No reason to make comments like that man.

lol what ? If i'm "trying to draw some sort of conclusion" about the defense, what are the people talking about Kaaya doing ? Seeing as he hasnt played a game yet, and we watched our defense give up 500 yards many times last year, i'd say its a safe conclusion. Especially since we spent all last offseason talking about how good Morris was looking in practice and how he was going to break out, yea we see how that turned out.

My thing is this, what do you get out of predicting a poor performance for the defense? "See...told ya they'd be bad."

Why not just wait until the bullets are flying and we can assess the damage then. There's no point in predicting based on prior results when this team is about to take the field in a little over 3 weeks. Let the team show us exactly how terrible they are. I don't understand people that predict it.
Please tell me where in my original post did i predict a poor performance for the defense ? Actually, show me where I made any sort of prediction at all. All I said was that last year a lot of QBs looked great against us, which is a fact. I'm excited about Kaaya but I want to see him against a better defense before I crown him.

Good Day

Another good day for Brad Kaaya. Poised and working with the first team. Efficient drives vs. first-team defense.

Let's not forget how that was last year.
Lets not forget it was the year before that too.

Let's not forget that the last two years mean nothing this year. The records and stats don't carry over.

We should let top qb recruits play against our defense during recruiting visits. Make them feel like he is man finalists while they are here.

Yes. Recruiting better players is now considered magic.

Our talent and depth is much better than it has been the last two years, its really night and day. Im not saying we have a top defense because there are major questions at NT, but our roster is light years ahead of the past.

OUr defense is not going to be magically 500% better. But it does have the ability to make decent improvement. WE have more depth at some positions, and experienced playmakers that can really help. With better DL play, that should help the LBs. The only real area of concern I have is at LB. Losing Figs and BLue, after having lost EJ and Terry last year is really hurting the depth on that unit. ANy injuries there and we could be in trouble.

But another year of experience and growth for some of these guys can only make us better. And with that experience and hopefully understanding the plays and the scheme better, MAYBE it will let Donofrio not coach as scared, allowing more aggressive play, which in turn can help accross the board. If this defense doesnt improve this year, well.....

Defense will only be 500% better if Tyriq and Quan have shored up their slot coverage techniques.

And if we return to our 1st man at the ball makes the tackle mentality
