DAY 4 PRACTICE THREAD

Matt Porter ‏@mattyports 39s

Another good day for Brad Kaaya. Poised and working with the first team. Efficient drives vs. first-team defense.
Lets not forget how this defense made pretty much every Qb we faced last year look like Heisman finalists...

Here we go again. Somebody trying to draw some sort of conclusion about a unit based on practices against their teammates.

Why can't we just wait to bash the defense?

If they stink, we'll know it very soon. No reason to make comments like that man.

A lot of you guys dont remember how good Jacory looked early on. He was a Heisman contender for a few weeks in '09.

Threw the most incredible pass I've ever seen from a Miami quarterback.

You talking about the bomb on the run to Benjamin late in the game at FSU in 09? The one where he did the Ric Flair walk afterward. That was a ridiculously incredible throw. I remember Todd Blackledge's comment was "Oh wow". I thought we had a stud at that point. Posters on one site were calling him Black Brady after that game.

Golden said he's challenging Kaaya to be more of a vocal leader. Wants Rosier & Olsen to be the same. Heaps, Williams are there already.

That's gonna be Golden's excuse on why Kaaya won't start.

The fix is in guys.

Plenty of time for brad to become a leader. He is just getting to know these guys and he is young. Let's see what he is like in two weeks.

Yeah. This ain't a young team on offense. There a plenty of guys who have been in the fire and two of the best players on the team. He doesn't have to be the sheriff from the door. Let him get to know the fellas.

Yes. I remember watching it and saying that's not possible. Given the circumstances and margin of error, I can't think of a more incredible pass.

lol what ? If i'm "trying to draw some sort of conclusion" about the defense, what are the people talking about Kaaya doing ? Seeing as he hasnt played a game yet, and we watched our defense give up 500 yards many times last year, i'd say its a safe conclusion. Especially since we spent all last offseason talking about how good Morris was looking in practice and how he was going to break out, yea we see how that turned out.

That was the throw that made me think that at the bare minimum, he'd go on the first day of whatever draft he entered.

Boy was I wrong.

My thing is this, what do you get out of predicting a poor performance for the defense? "See...told ya they'd be bad."

Why not just wait until the bullets are flying and we can assess the damage then. There's no point in predicting based on prior results when this team is about to take the field in a little over 3 weeks. Let the team show us exactly how terrible they are. I don't understand people that predict it.

The 1s, with Kaaya at QB and Shane McDermott with a couple bad snaps. That got them a little running and a "what the **** is going on?"

Man this guy is just the gift that keeps on giving. We really have NO one else at C that can do anything? Can Linder be all that bad? What about Gall?

yep, Shane is a guy whos flown under the radar in spite of getting dominated when we play the better defenses, if your offense is crumbling at the point of attack, it will make many things look bad.. He concerns me

Where have you gone KC Jones?

While folks are the subject of centers. Jared Wheeler did a **** fine job last yr...and he'll be on TV tonight, along side S. Henderson. Bills v Panthers

Panthers waived Wheeler and Buffalo picked him up. Really the only reason I scope out pre-season games...Ex-Canes fighting their way into the league. Heck, quite a few UDFA Canes on tonight.

Please tell me where in my original post did i predict a poor performance for the defense ? Actually, show me where I made any sort of prediction at all. All I said was that last year a lot of QBs looked great against us, which is a fact. I'm excited about Kaaya but I want to see him against a better defense before I crown him.
