MEGA Conference Realignment and lawsuits Megathread: Stories, Tales, Lies, and Exaggerations

According to ESPN, FSU/ACC officials have completed the mediation session as ordered by a judge. What does this mean? What are they mediating if the agreement everyone signed is so iron clad? All you legal eagles here, what say you?
What are they mediating? There is a LAW SUIT in progress and the court ordered mediation as one attempt to reach a settlement. If a settlement isn't reached the court process continues until there are rulings by a judge, or a settlement is arrived at later on.

Again, unintended consequences. These networks & conferences have been fixated on CFB, not realizing Collegiate Athletics is waaaaaaaay more than simply CFB. Choking off collegiate sports, in general, & putting schools that don’t have the resources as big time schools at a severe disadvantage, even though their programs rely on CFB & produce professional athletes, as well.

Just completely mismanaged across the board, & these networks have been mishandling & mismanaging chit for yrs on the local side. Corporations are ran by greedy imbeciles no matter the sector.
No one gives a fugga lugga about ribbon dancing.

Cut it.

So about that extra revenue from subscriber fees.
You're seeing two battles going on concurrently related to the ACC Network and the Big Ten Network.

Providers balked at paying ACC Network in-state market subscriber fees in Texas and California for the entire state. Disney is only getting the in-state rate in the Dallas DMA and SF Bay DMA.

Xfinity is balking at paying the in-state rate in California, Oregon and Washington for the Big Ten Network and doesn't even want to pay it in the LA, Portland and Seattle DMA's.

In addition, the contract between DirecTV and Disney expires at the end of this month, and they haven't reached an agreement yet. Based on the public barbs being traded, it's likely those channels will be going dark in less than a week.

We'll see who blinks first in these disputes.

A lot going on with all of the networks / media partners / streaming services that has to a degree put ANY major realignment moves on the back burner until different negotiations / horse trading are completed. ESPN and their partners were all ready to launch VENU Sports Streaming in the Fall of 2024 until the FUBO law suit resulted in an injunction to stop it for the time being at least. Nobody knows just how the BROADCASTING panorama is going to change so there is a good degree of foot dragging going on by the networks until issues are ironed out.

Yep this **** happens every year now. Spectrum told disney to **** off last year in negotiations and held out until disney came to their terms. This happened right at the start of CFB season and it didn’t hurt Spectrum at all as they have now surpassed comcast/xfinity as the largest provider.

The networks will crush the conferences like the insignificant bugs they are.

I still remain firm in the belief SEC and B1G will not see fully promised payouts of their new contracts.

Brett McMurphy on SiriusXM interview right now [paraphrased]...according to all his sources...

- FSU/Clemson are panicked and realize unless ACC totally collapses, SEC + B1G are not taking them
-- Big XII an option
-- Staying ACC option
- Legal sources are saying GOR likely not going to be ruled invalid, but key question is extension period
- ESPN extension in question
- IF ACC implodes, expect SEC + B1G to both go 20 teams immediately
-- ACC will try to poach American and anybody else
-- BigXII will try to poach ACC "best leftovers"

🤷‍♂️
