So basically FSU and Clemson spent all that money to find out that any ACC team can leave at a reduced rate prior to 2027 or just wait until 2027 and leave at no penalty?

Sounds we saved a crap ton of money without needing to do any work.

I believe that is all he was saying. FSU and Clemson did the leg work and paid for it. Miami may end up getting the benefit as well without having done a thing.

A lot of possibilities out there though depending on how the courts rule. FSU (and the other schools) may get their freedom within 2 years. Another possibility is the courts rule the ESPN amendment is valid and ESPN's leverage goes WAY up.

If the SEC is truly not interested in expanding with FSU and Clemson, what's to keep ESPN from preventing FSU and Clemson (or other members) from leaving to a "Fox" conference (B1G or Big 12) for the foreseeable future by opting to keep the contract after 2027? They keep the key brands of the ACC at pennies on the dollar.

He's either smoking the real good ****e or he's seriously upped his shilling for clicks game. FSU has acted like spoiled, entitled toddlers with realignment. Everything they've done to publcily besmirch the ACC is done to try to force ESPN to decline to renew the option. Regardless of whether the ACC is where any of us want to be, they have made it clear they want out now. They filed a lawsuit to get out of the ACC, want their notice of withdrawl to be retroactive to 2023 as part of their prayer for relief, and he thinks they're playing the long game?

Strange, how do you look and act like a club sport, but compete on the Division I level including travel? Are they stating they are not going to compete as a conference member in the Olympic sports since trips to LA, Washington, and Oregon would be too expensive?
