If the SEC/B1G absorb six or fewer teams from the ACC (both conferences combined have no more than 40 members) than a zombie ACC may survive as the Eastern Time Zone's equivalent to the Big XII.

But if the SEC expands to 24 and the B1G takes Miami and Notre Dame, then it's much more likely remaining ACC schools like Louisville, Pitt and others that have a Big XII invite head West just for stability's sake.

No P5 school is trying to end up like another Oregon State or Washington State left behind in the quicksand

I don’t think any conference is going to 24 because there’s only a handful of “move the needle” programs left to poach and they’re all in the ACC. And, the B1G and SEC don’t need to expand at all now. They’re printing money as it is.

You could be right JB

And that has nothing to deal with what conference they’re going to be and they’ve been playing Michigan State on and off for years, dude
Who said they were GOING to a conference??? Dude!! A comment had been made that there was no incentive for B10 programs to schedule games WITH ND ... well, they just did. Dude.

Don't see them going to 24 teams UNTIL possibly when their next media contracts are up for renewal in 2030 ... and that might coincide with a more formal P2 that breaks away from the NCAA. For now, it would be a huge move for both to go to 20 (B10 adding 2 and SEC adding 4).

Curious, who made that comment?
Don't recall specifically but there had been comments that the B10 and SEC had "0" incentive to schedule games with ND ... to force them into a conference. There was also a comment recently stating that ND being independent was no different than Miami being in the B12. Huge difference ... ND is a "P2" program all by itself as far as being able to recruit at a high level and schedule games with anybody. Miami in the B12 is handicapped by limited programming time / visibility due to playing scrub teams.
