Colbie Young Portal

**** IT. I didn't see that one happening.
I thought he would at least see who Miami grabs as a portal QB. Maybe he already has a destination.

Maybe he wanted more NIL and Miami said no.

Either way a tough loss. We need at least 1 big body WR. Hopefully, we land Smith. If we get a good transfer QB and CJ commits to the U, it could happen.

Very good WR who got close to no looks when TVD was out. Also nobody looked good in the 3-4 games TVD was awful. Will play in the NFL and will do well at Georgia if thats where he lands. Could end up following TVD.
Maybe you didn't watch the Clemson game.

🤷‍♂️

lol. The X slander reminds me of the Harley slander. Some people here really hate ultra productive receivers, assuming they'll someohow be replaced with more productive guys which never happens.
You have haters, and then you have people like me who think there are more explosive players behind him that I would like to see get more playing time. If that's hating, then I'm a hater.

I don't see X and Brashard both staying. At least 1 of them is going to move on.

he was our 3rd best receiver. none of our receivers were #1 WRs. lmao at board melting down cau se Young transferring. Jacolby the only nonfreshman WR I'd mope about losing. would love for X to stay too.

you'll really think we can't upgrade from Young and whoever else leaves with the WR talent in the portal (after getting our portal QB)?
I totally disagree. 2 of 3 WRs were were at the top of the ACC in production. If Young goes to UGA or another big school, then that should tell you all you need to know.

Poor QB play, poor play calling, and misused personnel are the blame IMO. Young and B Smith should have got 2-3 times the number of touches they received.

he wasn't one of those 2 at the top of the ACC in production, and he was supposed to be our #1 WR. he's not an explosive player (~12ypc over his 2 years here) and got worse as the season went on - 35ypg and <10ypc over the last five. even if we don't replace him in the portal (which we're obviously going to do) you really think Horton can't match that not so great production? am struggling to see how he's some great loss. wish him the best and hope he does well wherever he goes.

our WR need to be much more explosive next year. jacolby showed a lot of promise in that respect and brashard too when he wasn't making numbskull plays. ray ray and Washington have explosive potential. the recruits we have committed and Smith certainly do too. Colby Young proved over 2 years he wasn't consistently an explosive receiver. you wanna chalk all that up to corching, be my guest, but I'll trust what I see and the numbers dude puts up.

You ignore my points and created your own narrative. The question was about not having a #1. Past historical stats are useless. Not the same players or coaches.

Young not missed because of the lack of production. Which leads to my points. Is the blame on the WR or the coach and QB? I said play calling, player utilization, and QB play. You can look several times a game where Young and other WRs were open and TVD forces the ball to X.

If we had 12 games of BC and A&M, are you making the same claims?

The best move for a 5’9 receiver who isn’t very fast is to go play football professionally, missing out on a college degree and catching 70 passes next season in front of his friends and family in his hometown? Wut?
Yes it be beneficial for him to either go pro or go to another team because though he’s a tough gritty player his production will be less next year along with the fact that the wideout room is about to get crowded with top talent and Ray Ray got next.💪🏾It’s also beneficial for The U to get guys drafted that’s probably why Lee is leaving also. Croots are seeing that there’s good coaching/development.

Colbie Young had a few drops also and yes he should’ve been targeted more specially with corner fades in the red zone for TD’s but Tyler Van Yikes couldn’t get his sh! !t together again till BC.

You gotta be kidding me if Restrepo is following DVD. This kid is all Miami, always has been. I just can’t believe that.

As for Young, were we not one of the few teams that offered him? So now he dips once he showed out some. Just no integrity anymore. But that’s the game now. I hope these kids realize that the new clock rules really messed up every team as far number of snaps. That’s going to be a problem anywhere you go when it comes to fewer opportunities.
Integrity? Thats bull****. These dudes have every right to go to whatever team values them the most. No need to disparage a kid who’s looking out for himself and his family.

Just looking at the stats alone is lazy fan interpretation. If we had 12 games of BC and A&M, are you making the same claims?

yes. he had 9 catches for 109 yards in those 2 games. Jacolby and X had 8 single games that they were more productive in this year.

once you get a large enough sample size you are what you produce. you dispute this. instead its the OC and the QBs fault that a receiver produced at a level that you admit won't be missed.

was our OC bad for a handful of games - yes. Was our QB bad for more than handful of games - again, yes. Did another receiver not named X manage to overcome these hurdles and consistently produce explosive plays - yes, his name was Jacolby George.

so, ask yourself why didn't young? did you ever consider there was a reason that most of Young's targets were either the screen or a back shoulder fade? like, maybe dude just can't get open downfield against P5 corners.
