I’m not trying to spin it that he’s elite, because he’s not.

One played in the SEC, one played in the worst P4 conference and was ran out of town.

What would TVD put up in the SEC?

I think im worried more about the injuries. Bobo is a qb killer. I mean tvd was a meathead and put up numbers in Dawson's scheme.
He had a bad offense and sometimes the INT's are pushing too hard but what other options did we have? Most of the guys are unproven or play at a non-p4 who have been in portal.

My thinking as well. UGA is going bonkers offensively in the portal and probably on the staff. If it was just Beck, they’d be going after QBs. I don’t remember watching a UGA game and thinking to myself, man if they had another QB they’d be winning rn.

Its a good question considering the roster that UGA had...but obviously theres a difference with the roster this year, vs 2023.

Mateer is essentially stepping up from G5 so I have my doubts he'll even be average at Oklahoma.

Beck the last two years against SEC was competition was elite in 2023 and had the #8 national QBR ranking in 2024:

That was my big issue with Mateer. He played well and put up good numbers but it was against Mountain West teams.

His numbers in two games against P4 teams (Texas Tech and Washington) were 26-53 360 yards. 2TD 2INT. His play against two mediocre P4 was below average at best.
