Carson Beck

You'll can argue till you're blue in the face, but am a simple man. If we get Beck, we were successful in our portal QB search.

After we missed on Mateer and passed on Mendoza, measure of success IMO became: Is the QB we got better than Mendoza? Beck, for all his faults, is better than Mendoza. Am sure a few special people here will argue otherwise, but I shall not be persuaded.

We went after the best QB in the portal and missed. We chose not to pursue Mendoza with any vigor. If we get Beck, we got a QB who's better than Mendoza.

Beck is risky with the injury and his performance this year, but I think you 100% take him with those risks over anyone else we conceivably could have gotten who entered the portal (Mendoza/Mensah/Wegman's/etc).

Would be nice to get another portal WR in this period, but failing that I think we'll be an attractive spot for WRs in the Spring portal.

Him not throwing in spring would actually be solid cause we get a full Nickel vs Emory competition.

BTW I fully expect Emory to "WIN" the Backup job for Spring because that is how we keep him (and thus 3 qbs on roster) through the rest of the season. In reality it won't mean Emory is actually better than Nickel or that next season Nickel isn't the favorite.

He's not clearly below Mateer - WTF is that about?

Mateer is essentially stepping up from G5 so I have my doubts he'll even be average at Oklahoma.

Last year against SEC competition Beck threw 12 TDs and 12 Picks

He got his numbers against Tennessee Tech, Georgia Tech, Clemson and Umass.
