Carson Beck

idk if the staff would have viewed arnold as enough of an upgrade over emory, who knows maybe they did call mensah's agent and heard it was 4 mill per year over 2 years and we said nevermind.

we went after mateer because he was the best available and a clear upgrade, i don't think we're going after just anyone

Might be a clue on how they feel about Emory.

I’m trying to figure out why there’s so many fans out there who are dead-set against this. He’s been a very good college QB in the SEC, playing in a conservative offense with lackluster WR play and lack of depth at RB this year. The part that nobody is looking at is how much the needle would move nationally if he came here. Portal transfers would be lining up to come here if he announced tomorrow he was transferring to Miami. At Miami, he’d have a better O-Line, better RB’s, better WR room even with the losses, and a better OC. I’m all for this.
In what Universe does Miami have a better OL & better RB's than UGA?

Our offense is better than Georgia, yes 100

I agree. Our offense IS better. With Cam Ward.

2025? That’s what we are all waiting to see.

Almost the whole last page of the thread is: Why wouldn’t a QB want to come here vs Just because we were #1 doesn’t mean every QB would want to come here.

Still time left on the clock. Bag up and get a QB1.

CIS is its own Universe.

Would you bet $1000 even up that UM would beat Georgia? No way on earth and I would bet my life savings on GA. Yes DoctorKrazey that's why GA played a very difficult schedule (won the SEC) and made the playoffs while UM had a cupcake schedule and didn't make the playoffs or win the ACC. I couldn't agree with you more that the coaching staff, players on the OL, running back, etc are better at UM than GA. Of course you make a lot of sense LMAO

Plenty of time on the clock. We were the #1 offense in the country with a first round QB. If Carson Beck believes in himself and thinks he’s a first round talent too, then he can look at Miami and see what kind of numbers he’ll put up in our system.

I agree, we need to bag up and get the best QB out there.

Gotta love some of the "sky is falling" takes on here

1 - We have no idea who's been backchanneling who
2 - We actually have no idea how Emory has progressed (2 years in a system)
3 - The staff has quickly addressed some holes in the secondary (which was a huge need)
4 - If said need was filled and addressed (mostly) why does anyone think they're just sitting around waiting to fill THE biggest position on the team?

Too many factors in play here, meltdown away, but does it make sense?

Some and Mostly are huge factors. Also, to answer your question as to why some may be worried - our 2024 defense. We knew it would have holes and we did not adequately fill them.

Damien Martinez 145 Carries 823 yards 5.7YPC
Mark Fletcher 100 Carries 545 yards 5.4YPC
Jordan Lyle 45 Carries 366 Yards 8.1YPC

Nate Frazier 129 Carries 634 yards 4.9AVG
Trevor Etienne 111 Carries 571 yards 5.1AVG
Brandon Robinson 25 Carries 73 yards 2.9AVG
Assuming Martinez comes back I would agree.

But if he leaves, not so much.

Valid, but by the coaching staffs own metrics for success which have been YOY wins and losses, do you think they don't understand what progress needs to look like come next fall?

I am not saying one is better than the other but acting like someone saying Miami has a better RB and OL is crazy talk really isn't a big deal to me. It's not some orange and green glasses thing. Etienne is probably also leaving so again it will be pretty even I am sure.

Jury has yet to return a verdict on this staff. Was 2024 a one hit wonder because of Cam? Will we be able to sustain it and get to the playoff?

I think Miami with everybody playing would absolutely beat UGA.

But in terms of individual units, Miami definitely doesn't have a better OL than Georgia.

RB is completely contingent on Martinez, if he comes back there's a legit argument to be made, but if he declares for the draft UGA would have the advantage in that department.

This year. I would actually be hopeful, if a QB like Beck saw the 2025 roster and said, let’s fuc and it wasn’t about getting $2 million to do it. Not because I love the Beck option, but because he was about to go in the draft, from a powerhouse and should be smart enough to judge whether 2024 Miami can be duplicated or not.

I’m not sure I buy that we are better than UGA at all the positions he listed.
A lot has to do with Bobo being a crap OC for them too. Statistically our O was solid year before too but TVD going full ****** with INT's made us look far worse optically.

“Better WR room even with the loses” is a pretty bold statement…

I think we had better OL and RBs this year, next year I dunno. UGA ran the ball 44% of the time this year (52% prior year). 31% of their yards were rushing yards (39% prior year). They had issues running the ball this year, and threw it a lot more despite having worse receivers who dropped the ball a ton. Obviously Beck/Bobo struggled a ton in the passing game this year. If he ends up coming here next year I bet our offense is closer to the 50/50 split between run and pass that we saw in Dawson's first year than what we saw this year (45run/55pass)
