Mendoza pretty much fit the profile for me. Tall, good leader, fairly strong arm, accurate, processes fairly well, some mobility, significant P4 experience. Definitely would not have passed on him for Emory or Beck coming off a surgery. Hopefully that is not what is going on here.

Mendoza gave me cornball vibes, idky, but every reaction to a score vs us seemed alittle off to me.

I'm going to let it play out before I get too riled up. I assume 2 things are true: Emory/Nickel will not be the starting QB against ND & we are operating under some semblance of a plan.

To be fair, there is not really a window for grad transfers. So, plenty of QBs still out there. None of which would please us though. Only way we are able to sleep at night is if cam gets an extra year of eligibility or Lamar Jackson somehow gets a year 🤣🤣

@TwentySix had the simplest solution to our QB portal search, just get Chandler Morris early on. His mobility is a huge plus that sets him apart from traditional Air Raid QB. Could have picked up one of the highly rated bench warmers from a playoff team as well to build up the QB room. Would have meant forgoing Mateer, but a bird in the hand...

I'm still holding out hope that we can get Hoover to portal out of TCU. He's not a running threat like Morris, but he sure can sling it.

If that's not in play, our best option might just be to get McIvor plus one of the former blue chip guys from a playoff team with 3-4 years left.

With each passing day I wish we had gotten Morris more than the day before. But to be fair, I was fully on board with going hard after Mateer.

Still wouldn’t be mad if we could get Gio Lopez to hit the portal. Just hoping whatever “plan” is in place comes to fruition lol

Can't speak for anyone else but my issue with Beck is that there is no guarantee he will be healthy next year..so you might be going with Emory by default.
