Carson Beck

If Carson Beck leads us to ACC Championship game + Win it AND make it to the Natty game, Cam Ward deserves his own statue.

I know it sounds crazy but without Cam Ward committing to Miami, no top tier QB is committing to Miami. Ward has started a trend in the right and hopefully a successful direction.
I’m told when I was a youth we were QBU. I’d like to experience a little of that

people forget that most of our big wins in the Erickson era was keyed by the defense. Even the 2001 juggernaut had a game like BC (where the offense stalled)

It's really a shame Damien Martinez is gone, he would've had a monster 25 for UM...
I was thinking the same. I like Beck much more with Martinez in the backfield.

that's the reality, it's safe to assume that the offense will take a step back, which is understandable. Now, how much can the defense improve? it was literally the worst Ive seen as a Miami fan (I don't care what the numbers said).

That Syracuse game I was cursing that whole back 7 and the whole defensive coaching staff. I went from keeping some of them to purging all of them. We were up 21-0 and I knew they were coming back on us. Usually 21-0 your feeling great but not with that defense. Al Golden had some pretty bad defenses too

I have a wild idea , how about we play complimentary football ? Balanced offense that moves the ball and a defense that gets stops. Offense takes a step or two back but the defense will absolutely take a couple forward. That unit went from a weakness to a strength. Add Xavier and it’s a deep , playoff caliber secondary.
My worry becomes the LB position. We’ll be fine in the secondary and along the defensive line. LB core is still a huge question mark, in my opinion.

at 21-0, I felt like if we could get a stop on that next defensive stop - the game was ours. But the way Cuse scored so quickly, I had that sinking feeling

And then when we rotated in Lyle and didn't stick with Martinez, it seemed to really disrupt the offense momentum. That was game that I felt Miami had to shorten the game and keep the defense off the field as much as possible. And they simply didn't do that well enough

This is slap worthy. I hope osu loses by 75, then bring him home for the next two with an offer he can't refuse.

I knew that TD was coming and the way they scored so quick...i threw up my hands and said we better score on the next drive. They stopped us in the next two drives and next thing you know its 21-14 halftime with Syracuse getting the ball first in the 2nd half. We were f'd

GaTech also had nearly 35 minutes of TOP and had 271 yards rushing
Yes because they had a nearly 11 minute drive. They ran for 150 of those 271 yards on the first drive and the long one. I'm not saying the defense was world beaters in that game, but they got off the field enough that we should have easily won the game had the offense played anything like they did the rest of the year.

We averaged .59 pts/play on the year, on the 38 plays after those 5 stops against GTech we averaged .26 pts/play.

I was cursing Mario for not making a change.

Happens everywhere even the NFL ( see Dorsey with the Bills)

Lol you are assuming CMC wouldn't have found a way to give Fletcher more snaps and carries

yeah, all valid points. I also remember a key 3rd and 17 late in the game they converted. This defense was bad this game and was for much of the year from Vatech on

I still say that the key play of the Gatech was not giving it to Damien Martinez on 4th and 1 on that opening possession of the 2nd half. And then there were FG attempts that were bypassed
