Carson Beck

Defense still could use some more help. Think we still need a LB that just eats up the middle and is a tackle machine. Probably could use another DT (most of the depth we’re hoping is ready to play) and another DE. But the secondary has improved a lot
I’m not buying the Defense will improve significantly as is. I agree, we need a difference maker at DT and LB.

As a fellow *******, welcome to the club, ******* (i want to be clear this is in jest)

I do agree with with @TwentySix Mateer > Beck. That’s not necessarily putting Beck down saying that.

Mateer has that shortstop like gamer to him. He’s got an arm similar to Ward where he will hit different slots and angles and then he will make you pay with his legs which I always want a QB to be able to do.

However, Beck instantly improves the ‘25 season outlook from 7 wins at best to a potential double digit win team again assuming the defense is fixed

I like Mateer too. The fact he almost ran for 1k yards rushing d@@@mnnn. We'll see how he does in the SEC. I hope we get Beck then it worked out for us afterall

luke gets qb1 reps all spring, emory transfers, we roll with beck this year and luke getting some reps in garbage time

2026 is luke's show

a few weeks ago we said it's results-based business - Mario would be crucified for his handling of QB situation or praised - welp, looks like he handled it perfectly at this point in my opinion

If we get Beck and assume he’s the starter, we really need our backup QB to be focused this Spring and building chemistry with the WRs.

Texas, Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida had him in **** he was 5 TD 10 INT in those 4 games.

Tennessee and Clemson he had really nice games with 4 TD 0 INT in those 2 games.

Elite against GT and Auburn - 7 TD 0 INT

Have to figure out how to replicate Tennessee Clemson GT and Auburn performances. 11 TD 0 INT in those 4 games. That’s what we need.

Oh My God Wow GIF
I think from Dec-Mid Jan you become the embodiment of CiS.

I love the journey. Cheers to you brother.

Where is this analysis on Mateer coming from? He played a **** schedule and while a decent passer and excellent runner he isn't anywhere close to a sure thing. I'll bet anyone in here his QBR is lower than Beck's next year.

This is an ideal scenario

That’s similar to saying you would bet Ward would have a higher QBR at Miami than at WSU.

I would too but OU is *** juice and Mateer would have a higher QBR here than Beck would if they were both here.

that Gatech game, yeah, they only gave up 28 -- but they flat out could not get off the field. And it limited the opportunities for the offense. And when you give up THAT many yards on the ground to a team which doesn't have a consistent pass threat -- that's terrible defense, bottom line

The ceiling on our offense last year was 12 games. The defense shaved 2 off of that.

yeah, all valid points. I also remember a key 3rd and 17 late in the game they converted. This defense was bad this game and was for much of the year from Vatech on

I still say that the key play of the Gatech was not giving it to Damien Martinez on 4th and 1 on that opening possession of the 2nd half. And then there were FG attempts that were bypassed
The defense was bad vs USF. I knew we had major issues once I saw them kill us with their walk-on slot WR, had him in motion the whole game and we could not stop it. Every offense we faced from then on exposed that, it was all on tape from USF.
