Can't close Fire Banda

One of the best defensive backfields??? Here come the #1 pass defense in the nation slurpers.... The backfield was good but its easy to pad your stats when you play a JV schedule. Did Miami even play a top 50 offense? No need for the other teams to pass when they can run at will. GT QB averaged 25 yards a completion(haha).

These guys need to start hitting on top targets not plan B/C kids

trying to find the pass stats, but at least for overall Defense when adjusted for schedule, miami is 4th

Newest excuse! Well done!

Its hard to sell playing against GA Tech, UNC, Duke, Va Tech, UVA and Pitt every year in the Coastal against playing Bama, LSU, Auburn, A&M, Arkansas and Ole Miss every year in the West.

*** and this is the only reason the D and the backfield has the #1 pass defense. If they actually played against a Varsity schedule not JV then the D wouldnt be ranked in the top 30

That said, even if you take out howard and burns, your group that golden left for rumph includes Corn Elder, Jaquan, Redwine, Jenkins, Carter and Michael Jackson. That is hardly an empty cupboard.

Except that those guys looked like wasted scholies until the new guys coached them up. Corn and Jaquan were the only guys who showed any signs of life, and they made leaps to become outstanding players.

We had no experienced depth which forced us to take Colbert and Delaney. It was a mess.

You should be content with arguably the best performance of any defensive backfield in the country last season and expect it to continue with no recruiting fall off. Yes.

If you want it to go from very good recruiting to elite OSU and Alabama DB recruiting than that’s fine, but you don’t fire guys who are getting it done on the field and producing relatively good recruiting results.

Either that or be mad at the administration for not going out and paying for the best.
If your point is that Banda and Rumph are the best we can do for their salaries, then at least we aint arguing that they’re legitimately good, salary aside, any more.

But why not fire them, combine their salaries, and hire a real DB corch, then go hire some grad assistant for a pittance to help Patke corch LBs?

In any case, I’m content that we’re of a similar view if where we landed is Banda and Rumph are co-DB coaches because UM doesn’t care enough about football to hire a real DB coach. That is entirely possible, even likely.

You’re changing the focus. They had talent, obviously. And they were in the cupboard. So it wasn’t empty.

I have never contended Williams was a good coach. He was awful.

Our current guys are better coaches. But together they are at best recruiting no better than Williams. That’s not acceptable.

Again, if we have two assistant spots allocated to DB, then at least one of them must be a great recruiter. Or we are not doing what we need to do as far as staff goes.

Padded stats against shlt teams. Again we didnt play ANYBODY that had a good offense.

its adjusted for garbage time as well

The values are adjusted for strength of schedule and down-weighted for "garbage time" (based on win probability).

Oh absolutely, I mean, I’m assuming the budget has something to do with this. They hired two prospects at those positions with low starting salaries.

I think they have done a good enough job to not get fired yet, though, UNLESS you’re talking about going out and outbidding for the highest paid DB coaches.

You probably think UCF won the national championship year before too. Best offense we faced was who? Wisconsin BC?

This lazy take some of you keep regurgitating over and over is such an embarrassment.

Outside of a few isolated portions of a few games our pass defense has been excellent from the day this defensive staff took over three years ago.

Have we played no one in three years now?

Well show me a top 25 offense that we played against and actually stopped. The passing D is not horrible but when teams can basically run at will against us...why pass. Did Miami even play a top 50 offense last season?

i did not think that. im giving factual data that is adjusted for schedule and garbage time and your retorts are nothing to counter. you gave the LSU game and numbers show, you were wrong there.
