Feels a lot like 2013. Came off a good season and had one of the worst closes I can remember besides Coley. Only this is more depressing because we at least had targets we could lie about then and we weren’t as good 😂
Haha I hold that Coley commitment very high as you could tell. The relief of getting someone that day was huge.

And dont let people fool you..After Cribby said he saw Stubbs live and wasnt impressed at all..everyone jumped off his bandwagon. And DMoney had to calm the wolves from people comparing Nix to a more twitchy Corey Flagg because folks werent impressed with his Sr film. FACTS. There is a reason our staff didnt up the bag on those two..they saw the same thing most people saw.

That said, is this the ideal class we wanted? No. But someone said it..this seemed like a weak class overall this year. No Jeremiah Smith/Dylan Stewart type players imo. Maybe its sour grapes but just what im seeing. Alot of teams are going to have buyers remorse over what they gave some of these recruits. Alot of "renegotiating/missed payments/bounced checks" stories I predict come out again this time next year.. Especially out of Gainesville.
This class is very weak compared
To last year. Stubbs is not a high 4 star in 2024. We have money. We paid up for Moore.

So im guidry will smile and tell us how the media doesn’t know recruiting then shift into Cajun recipes and how good he eats over the holidays.

I think We have some pretty good players coming. Of course we still have a ton work in the portal to do for the defense. Yeah I wish we could have had top 5 .

So....

Only flips were Stubbs & Nix?

Now possibly Toney too?

Why is the class all the sudden bad??
It’s not bad, it’s good. The problem most of us have is Mario is supposed to be an elite recruiter and he lost 2 recruits and didn’t flip anyone. If Mario can’t recruit at an elite level then what is he bringing to the table that separate him from other coaches. It’s certainly not his game day decisions.

I have been talking about Mario's recruiting flaws from day 1. This isn't revisionist or I told you so, not from me at least. I knew his flaws from his time at Oregon. If you did the research, you would see it yourself.

I also unfortunately know a few people who happen to be directly involved with recruiting at UM and there are internal issues regarding recruiting that have been there since Mario arrived. So none of this is new to me.
As I mentioned, Mario is not above criticism. He is not St. Saban, savior of all things football. He has had a couple of good recruiting classes. We are stuck with him for a few more years at minimum. I hope he rights the ship for good. That doesn't make me a slurper (and I realize you didn't call me a slurper); it makes me a Canes fan and an optimist.

I too am aware of some inside happenings regarding Mario's ego and demanding nature as it applies to more than just recruiting. Quite honestly, if we win, I don't gaf. If we don't, I still won't gaf, just will want him gone.

2 things can be true. We got smoked on the trail this year and I like our commits. But because we got smoked we'll have to make up for it in the portal with not only one year rentals.

A good class is still possible. Hopefully Florida/Texas/Oregon/Auburn spent their money on high school recruiting. I'd imagine Michigan will be very active in the portal and their check book is much bigger than ours right now.

So Dallas Wilson flips to UF after almost two years of being an Oregon commit mean lanning got stuff in a locker by Billy?

Wilson just signed with Oregon instead of flipping to UF, so Lanning wasn’t stuffed in a locker by Napier the way Cristobal was this entire cycle.

You know what else Lanning did? Signed an ELITE 5* WR out of Texas in Dakorien Moore, a caliber of playmaker we haven’t landed in decades.

Oregon signed three 5* recruits — one of whom is a top-flight CB — as well as two other DB’s ranked inside the Top 100, including a safety in Trey McNutt that our staff apparently and inexplicably turned away while we prioritized overhyped in-state recruits who we didn’t even land.

You can keep deflecting all you want, though.

These kids have signed with other schools and their names are mentioned more than the kids that have signed here lol Give me a portal list and not one you would like to see Miami pursue but actually the ones we've tampered with because those are the ones we realistically have a shot at.
