Camp Report: Scrimmage #2

I saw gaping holes in our zone D again. Just sayin...
It's okay -- yards don't matter.

This is what Dnofrio has been saying since he got here.he's not concerned with how many yards his defense gives up just keep them from scoring.
And it's been working so well.

This is another one of those things that is great in theory but execution is another story. It's so tough to be willing to give up yards but then turn into a elite defense when the offense gets close to scoring range. It's a fine line that is really easy to cross.

Armbrister started playing towards the end of the season too. I feel he is bashed a lot when he shouldn't be. He made a transition from safety to linebacker and now that solid weight has been added he will be a very solid player for us
lies lol

Look the defense has made fricking plays on the scrimmage which is more life out side fo the Gator game last yea rthat we have seen from them. That in it self if fricking positive. Who knows about Kaaya or schemes but our last two QB's turned the ball over a **** load and we still had fighting chances. For sure we win 8.

This is the football philosophy both Golden and Dnofrio were molded into at Penn ST.**** this is how Paterno beat us in 86,we had superior talent outgained them 3-1 but they kept us out of the endzone and beat what might be our best team ever.If you grewup watching miami the last 3 decades this defense makes you sick but it is what it is.

So if we do play a 3-4 and play to our strengths on that side of the ball (the DE position) you will be upset? What do you want go back to 4-3 again? That hasn't worked out, so him changing the scheme to fir our strengths shows that they are trying very hard to make this work. The rest is up to the players.

You can't rely on the offense to turn the ball over 8 times a game. Turnovers are as predictable as a coin flip. It's a recipe for failure.

I think the OL reactions might be unwarranted. They said they were trying to get 10 guys who could rotate on the line so I think they were trying different combinations last night. Haven't heard about bad OL play in the other practices

Guys need to stop acting like big plays mean you have a **** team. **** everyone on this board would trade this defense for the 2001 defense but that defense still allowed 3 big plays to VT and allowed 24 points in the second half to them. This **** happens, it just comes down to if you did enough on Saturday.

For me I rather see the big plays, like we have seen, on both sides of the ball (showing/proving they have the ability to create plays on Saturday) than to have one side get shut out in practice.

The first thing I came in here to post was Grace hawking down Malc. ****!

Also, dat Gray cut! You can't teach that.

Those are the exact two things that stood out to me the most.

And Brady looks like a grown man already the way he bodied up on that TD.

Was Grace on the screen in every highlight?

Liked that play that got Dobard open. Need to keep making use of the tight end. Personal favorite is the naked bootleg that drags the tight end across the formation.

That Gray cut was the business, and Yearby looked like Gore the way he was behind his pads hitting the hole.

What I don't understand is, why not attempt to prevent yards as well as scoring.

Perryman = Debo
Gus = Red

only real problem i saw from that was the Coley TD.

6 yard line. Defense in a zone. Crossing route and nobody is within 10 yards of him. You only have to cover 16 yards of field, and there are 11 guys on defense (allegedly anyway) and we allow a WR to stand there, wide open in the middle of the endzone.

The other stuff (ie Yearby, Duke, Coley, our TEs) making plays... I'm totally cool with. We have some elite talent on offense.

But there's not a team in America that couldn't have scored on that 6 yard pass play. How can we not clean that **** up?

Because Miami had Gaines, Cornelius, Rodgers, Highsmith, and a banged up Deon Bush roving the second level.
