Camp Report: Scrimmage #2

I said it once and ill keep saying it, last year was the perfect time to fire Golden and get Chudzinski or Schiano, or even butch back.
Do you actually think those coaches would have wanted to coach under an admin who they would have perceived unfairly firing Golden after all that he was put through with the Shapiro investigations and through it all improving win totals every year?
You people need to put a little bit more thought at what comes out of your mouths. really.

You left out that he wouldn't have been unfairly fired since he was MIA (for a week) in the middle of the final month of recruiting.

Cause that obviously ended up affecting recruiting.. NOT.
Had his whereabouts and transgressions been made public I believe recruiting would have been affected.

Wow. It was perfect that he was MIA, actually benefited the program. Boy what was I thinking. It wasn't just recruiting by the way, the school would have been justified in firing him for being MIA. I only pointed out the period by connecting it to recruiting.

except he wasn't MIA.

Miami AD Blake James wrote in a text message to Christy Cabrera Chirinos of the South Florida Sun Sentinel Saturday that he has been in contact with Golden, and added his thoughts on whether he will have to man a search committee as counter part Dave Joyner currently is at Penn State.

I know you are one of those that think AG can do know harm and we would have a top 30 defense last year. But you really seem to support AG > the Program which is pathetic. I want you to think outside the box for a few minutes.

Everyone knows Al was interested in the Penn State job (which I don't fault him for), are you disputing this too?

Breaking down your NON-QUOTE BS:

1. That is not proof of anything. In fact, there is no quote there.

My favorite part is that it says he has been "in contact with Golden." What does that mean? That they text each other.

Hey, Al why aren't you in your office?

Hey, Blake getting groceries.

Okay we text each other.

2. As for Blake, what else should he say, we have no clue what is going on....I have no idea where's my HC.

3. If this was all bullchit then it was simple for Al and the Admin. HAVE AL IMMEDIATELY DO A PRESS CONFERENCE THAT HE IS COMMITTED TO THE PROGRAM AND THE SCHOOL. Now this wouldn't definitively prove anything, it would at least show him in front of UM making a statement for the public. End some bullchit speculation. Instead there was a nice waiting period without any public statements from the Coach.

Now you can believe what you want and support Al > the Program, that is your right.

But stop with the Bullchit about firing Al would have been "unfair" and that there would have been no interest from other coaches.

Firing Al would not be unfair. He's a big boy. That's what contracts are for. The reasonable view is that I would not have begrudged Al if he bolted for PSU. It's his am and he inherited an absolutely horrific, can't-win situation here -- and apparently, he did so blind re the Shapiro **** storm on the horizon. I also think it would not have been unreasonable if Miami fired him.

I will say, however, that his demeanor and look is markedly different now than it was before and during the PSU flirtation. I think that experience was the best thing that could've happened to both UM and Al. It humbled Al and made him appreciate this opportunity. And he clearly looks comfortable here now and excited about the future.

Saul is king, so that is all that matters.

The best part is winning cures all. If Al does the minimum (below), I don't feel like a Sandusky victim anymore after the PSU debacle.

1. Actually Improve in the ACC (6-2, 7-1 or 8-0),
2. Win the Coastal, and
3. Win 10 games before the post-season

Very good post.

It sucks that he blew his capital on the Pedo St. thing. I don't blame him for going for it as we have known all along that was his dream job but I think if he could just survive to 2015 we would really start winning due to these recruiting classes, even though 2014 might be tough due to QB issues, schedule etc.

In fact, 7 wins is right where many have us pegged, so that puts it right on the line.

I cannot overemphasize enough how much margin of defeat and opponent comes into play. If he goes 7-5, but loses by one score to all of them, the recruiting class is solid, and fans don't lose hope, he's not going anywhere.

Don't kid yourselves. 7 wins, and the fans are hanging him in effigy. We don't care if he plays inferior teams close and only loses by a score. It'll be Shannon's USF moment all over again.

If the exact situation that you and I described came to fruition, I think it would be 60-40 that he would get fired.

Firing him would have been completely justified. Just because a coach gets fired doesn't mean any other coach wouldn't want to come. Do you thing that Chud would have been saying he doesn't want to come because they fired Golden, who was actively pursuing another job, to bring him in

the hit Perryman put on Gus...

I know he's a designated whipping dog and everything, but old Thurston seems to be coming on strong the last week at linebacker. Especially in coverage with a run of picks and batted passes.

kid told me personally in the spring he is redy to turn it on this yr....spoke weith me and my boy for like 10 mins after spring game...cool *** dude....gained some weight as well..his issue is that hes not naturally a lb..and he has problems taking on blocks, same time reading...so at times he would get ol into him and they would use him...now if he can scrape and be free...he can make plays as he is lengthy an can run...hes a solid tackler.....definately need him to step up with the loss of lb depth

He doesn't look as athletic as you'd hope a former Safety/WR would.

Plenty of former HS Safeties on this board with the athleticism of slugs. His lack of athleticism accounts, at least in part, to him being virtually unrecruited out of HS.
