Cam Going to Get Dawson a HC Gig?

Top OCs making a little over 2 large these days. We should be able to pay him enough to keep him happy (along with zero state income tax ) unless he has his heart set on being an HC. Sometimes getting the perch above the job that you really love isn't a great jump
lol there are 2 - 3 oc’s making $2m

Trend the last few years has also been to take successful coordinators from the top programs straight to a big job. If I’m a successful coordinator at a top program, that’s the path I’m looking for. Not go be the HC at Rice or Temple.

ECU is a dead end job. Only thing good in Greenville is the BBQ (B's and Parker's).
My homeboi son is the RB for ECU! Dat MF place is **** near in Virginia! Dat MF pass Raleigh/Durham! It’s **** near 4 hrs to Raleigh from Spartanburg 😳

I do think it would be smart to cash in this great year for a HC job. Rice isn’t the greatest option but for someone who has never been a HC its a good place to have low expectations and develop

With that running game? Yeah right….

Plus we have seen more people running wide open in this offense with Dawson actually
Run game is essentially the same schematically, dawson has mario/mirabal olines.

And i think dawson is more of a pro style top cfb team offense but lashlee definitely schemed up people more imo with what the weapons he had and he had a new cfb qb in tvd getting compared to burrow and he ain’t been the same since then lol

I think Lashlee is SMU's Howard Schnellenberger. His success there is directly related to getting the UM guys to transfer but I think he really loves being the guy there. I don't think he leaves unless forced to do so.
This kind of season from SMU will get even more boosters behind Lashlee. SMU has potential Texas and TAMU money.

Leaving for a non-P4 job seems like a bad move.

He should stay at Miami and show he can build an offense around the next group of quarterbacks he’ll have: Emory, Judd, Nickel (sticks?), and a portal transfer if there is anyone they’d like to have and sign. Yes, I’m not counting Poff in the equation.

Wait for a better situation, like Lashlee. I know he wasn’t kept by Mario, but he was a leading candidate for the SMU job anyway. Or, he took the job before all that went down. I don’t remember the order.

Houston is a better opportunity. Big 12, money and recruits in Texas. He’s familiar with the program. They’re investing in the program and raising the profile. They’re not very good right now but have much better resources than ECU or some other meh-G5 team.
Lashlee took the SMU job when Manny was still our head coach.

Dawson has one of two options. Strike while the iron is hot. Or bet on himself. Personally I think he’d be wise to take a HC position after this year because he’ll likely never be a hotter commodity. That and I still think he’s a mid OC riding a generational talent to levels he’s never been before.

Honestly, I’d be okay if he left after this year as long as we brought in another Air Raid guy to replace him. He’s got some good play designs and he’s used Cam really well but I still see his struggles when a defense throws him a change up. It bothers me that his solution to TVD’s issues was to just stop throwing it downfield. It also bothered me that his solution to FSU’s defense was to just run the same run play over and over. I have no problem with the whole “take what the defense gives you” philosophy but **** we just threw 90% of the playbook in the garbage after the first quarter.

Personally I think Dawson is okaaaay. He’s never going to have another year statistically like he’s having now and it might be best for him to take a job while someone actually wants him.

Dawson has been far better not even close. Remember he had a top 25 offense last year without cam ward and #1 this season. Had he had just an average/smart qb in 2023 Miami would have had a high ranking offense then too and we would have won at least 10 regular season games as well
Sorry. At least half of the games we played last year the offense was terrible or close to it. Yes, we put up enough yardage against bum teams to make the overall numbers look good but a great OC makes necessary changes to where we don’t have what we got against UVA or NCState. We also should have found a way to score against a GT team that could barely move the ball on offense and was one of the worst defenses in the ACC.

Dawson without Cam = average.

Check out Lashlee's roster then check out Dawson's roster.
Give Dawson that 2021 team with a bunch of 6’2” linemen and only Knighton at running back and we’re flying banners and lighting torches. ****, give him SMU’s current roster full of guys UM didn’t want and he’s not making it through the season.

Larry Coker and Rod Chudzinski put up huge numbers with the all star team we had in the early 2000’s. I don’t think either of them ever had a successful offense after Miami.

Looking forward to the @Memnon OC suggestion post(s) in the offseason if Dawson does take a HC gig after this season. I honestly have no idea who MC might look to hire if Dawson does leave.

I don’t think Dawson is a legend but he’s far from mid. That’s a disservice. Watch the all 22….

But Dawson Brad success before Miami even if smaller stage. Apples and oranges
