Cam Going to Get Dawson a HC Gig?

Cajuns are in the Acadiana region of the state. Dawson is from the Florida parishes (Baton Rouge area). Them ain't cajuns at all.

Yeap, Cajuns are descendants of French people who were kicked out of their colony named Acadia now known Nova Scotia by the British during mid 18th century. Creole has some French culture but has a broader spectrum of people descended from Africans, Spanish, Germans, Irish and native American like Choctaws.

The on3 artcile just had a list of guys, no where did it say dawson was actually interested in the job. Last coach made under a million there. Hes getting paid more now. Also said Dawson was this great recruiter that got Cam..... we all now Mario got Cam!
Miami Offensive Coordinator Shannon Dawson has thrown his name into the hat for the vacant head coaching job at Rice, looking to capitalize on the Hurricanes’ emergence as one of the top offensive football teams in the nation.

Sources close to the situation told On3’s Pete Nakos that Dawson has told Rice he wants the job and is now a legit candidate. Rice is in the early stages of its search and there is not yet a short list.

Great campus, likely more chill job, better cost of living. But I don’t think Dawson is going to do the necessary grinding to turn that program around. I don’t think this is the one to worry about

Asked Chat GPT who were the top 5 offensives and who were the OC’s.

The top five college football offenses this season (2024) are:

1. Miami (FL)

• Offensive Coordinator: Shannon Dawson

Miami’s offense has been a dominant force this season, leading in scoring and passing efficiency.

2. Indiana

• Offensive Coordinator: Rod Carey

Indiana’s offense has impressed with a highly effective attack, keeping them near the top in scoring.

3. Boise State

• Offensive Coordinators: Dirk Koetter and Nate Potter

Boise State runs a versatile offense led by this experienced duo, helping them rank high in total offense and scoring .

4. Clemson

• Offensive Coordinator: Garrett Riley

Clemson has remained strong under Riley’s leadership, leveraging a balanced offensive approach .

5. North Texas

• Offensive Coordinator: Eric Morris

North Texas has shown proficiency in passing, spearheaded by Morris’s play-calling

North Texas ranks near the top in passing yards, with an offense that has put up significant points and yardage throughout the season.

I would start here if he leaves.

Ok, let’s get some candidate list going.. lol

I’m thinking if he leaves this would go fast, as Mario will also need to attract a QB transfer.
Doing some surface level research, North Texas has the 7th best offense in the country and their OC was with Cam at Incarnate Word and WSU in other coaching roles. I'm sure we'd go after someone with more experience but thought it was interesting

Cam Ward connection? I like it.

Yes. His name is Jordan Davis. Had North Texas at #21 offense end of year last year and they're #7 so far this season. They finished #28 year before he got there. Honestly the more I dive into it their HC was the OC he worked under at WSU and Incarnate Word and brought him over with him. Maybe that is the guy to go after but I doubt he'd want a demotion. Eric Morris.

Update: The year (2022) they were at WSU as an OC/Offensive Assistant combo was Mateer's first season, so they're familiar with him if that's a portal candidate for us...

He's got the top offense in the nation and Heisman front runner at QB, but Rice is a job he's interested in? Come on..

They're 1 loss away from clinching their 10th losing season in a row and have only had 10 winning seasons in the last 60+ years.
Which means it’s a perfect springboard to a bigger job if he can manage to take them bowling.

And it’s in a talent-rich state like Texas that has prospects overlooked all the time.

Is it an easy job? **** no! Especially when you consider the academic reputation a school like Rice has. But the lack of expectations = minimal pressure. It’s not as bad of a path as some make it out to be.

Be great if he stayed, but if he chooses to leave then bring me Jordan Davis and Chandler Morris from UNT.

Duo is putting up puts this year. Davis GA'd at TTU under Kliff, Coached at Incarnate Word while Cam was there, and is now putting up points. Morris has another year of elibility... i think.

Here's where you'll find the cajun/coonass culture:

The gray area is full of rednecks and NOLA city folk.
thank you for the edumacation. not all louisianians are the same. cajuns were viewed pejoratively (hillybilly swamp peoples) although they (the cajuns) viewed it as a badge of honor, IIRC.

Coach Morris! Glad to have you here, what went wrong at Arkansas?

The top five college football offenses this season (2024) are:

1. Miami (FL) - Offensive Coordinator: Shannon Dawson

Miami leads in both scoring and passing efficiency, with a powerful offense averaging over 45 points per game.

2. Indiana - Offensive Coordinator: Walt Bell

Indiana has showcased a high-powered offense this year, ranking just behind Miami in scoring offense.

3. Boise State - Offensive Coordinator: Bush Hamdan

Boise State has a balanced attack, ranking high in total yardage and scoring, thanks to Hamdan’s dynamic schemes.

4. Clemson - Offensive Coordinator: Garrett Riley

Under Riley, Clemson has built a consistent offensive force, excelling in both rushing and passing efficiency.

5. North Texas - Offensive Coordinator: Eric Morris

North Texas ranks near the top in passing yards, with an offense that has put up significant points and yardage throughout the season.

I would start here if he leaves.
Walt Bell is not the OC at Indiana

Patrick Nix Jedd Fisch wants a word with you.
Dawson has been far better not even close. Remember he had a top 25 offense last year without cam ward and #1 this season. Had he had just an average/smart qb in 2023 Miami would have had a high ranking offense then too and we would have won at least 10 regular season games as well
