Business decisions

I like DMoney but the OP deserves to be down voted. Recruiting is (a significant) aspect of being a position coach in college football. That's the reality. If he cannot recruit, he's not doing his job.

Has nothing to do with fckn Rumph... South Florida dbs are fckn mental. We couldn't recruit American Heritage when James Coley was here but now Coley is an ACE at UGA?? No its clear that it doesn't matter who is a recruiter at these SEC schools.. these simple minded sfl dbs are just some groupies they gon jump on that d**k regardless.

We always worried about who the best of the best recruiter is and we need to have him... that isn't the issue, it's south Florida dbs that are the issue.

Amazing post! Spot on all of sudden James Coley is an ACE soflorida closer.

You hire the American Heritage head coach and this happens.

2018 Class - Power 5 Signees
Patrick Surtain Jr. - Alabama
Tyson Campbell - Georgia
Nesta Silvera - Miami
Anthony Schwartz - Auburn
Andrew Chatfield - Florida
Miles Jones - Nebraska

2017 Class - Power 5 Signees
Tederrell Slaton - Florida
Marco Wilson - Florida
Kai-Leon Herbert - Miami
James Houston - Florida
Dontavius Butler - Nebraska
George Ellis - TCU

2016 Class - Power 5 Signees
Brian Burns - Florida State
Nick Eubanks, Michigan
Brandon Johnson - Tennessee
Khalil Herbert - Kansas (really stretching P5 with this one lol)

...

We've got TWO kids from the school he coached at. TWO.

That is horrible no matter what trees you are focused on instead of the forest.
They must hate Rumph over there, LOL.

That much is obvious. He must be a major **** in real life because none of “his” kids move on with him.

I’ll tell you this: Hiring elite SF HS coaches has not helped us out at all. Been doing it for years. Not much benefit in my opinion.

We’ll experience the same thing next year.

Rumph in his first 3 classes:

- loses our top cb prospect to Tennessee
- loses 2 of our top prospects to UF
- loses our top prospect to UGA, and another 5 star to Bama (both played for him at Heritage)

The guy is getting cucked by the SEC year in and year out. Clearly not a good recruiter. I will admit that he has developed some of our guys well but he has left us in an extremely vulnerable position at cb.

So why does Rumph get "the blame" for losing kids, but "super-recruiter" Bandy gets all the credit for successes?

If you want to blame Rumph for Campbell (Miami NEVER had an inside track on Surtain), fine.

But let's not pretend that Bandy had no role in losing Byrd to Tennessee, or Henderson/Edwards to Florida.

And if all of you fake-geniuses think that replacing Rumph is the answer, then come up with a list of DB coaches who could have convinced Campbell and Surtain to sign with Miami over Smart and Saban.

I'll wait.

Mel ****n Tucker
Travaris Robinson

is a start of my list.

**** to be honest if Richt Really knew the land scape..he would of hired alumni Chad Wilson as he has wayy more pull locally with dbs than Rumph ever did.

and all of those coaches wouldve still gotten the i'm OVing out of respect for you but i gotta feed the fam bs it makes no difference.

You think Coach Richt NEEDS a db coach with a famous sfl "name" to convince football players to commit to play for him?? gtfoh

Tyson Campbell and Pat Surtain our rich kids. Surtain especially...they aint feeding the fam in their 3-5 million dollar home in sw ranches.
Those are two kids that knew the game, know developement, and the recruiting process. Both never dissed us and i respect it. We literally were 3rd and 4th options for them though..two kids that knew rumph since they were 10.

I dont think Richt needs a s.fla name..i think Richt needs a real recruiter..a real salesman on the defensive side of the ball ...as we have ...NONE.
Think about this...had Jimbo never ran off to TX A&M...we likely end up with no LBS either as our DC only wanted 1...and literally recruited as such too. He should foot some of the blame as well as he should have been all over Campbell. Moving forward i have NO FAITH in Rumph to land guys other than guys that just want to be canes...he aint beating out anyone for recruits foreal. We can live with it luckily as s.fla will forever produce dbs

It definitely wasnt those lame *** tweets James Coley was making that reeled TC into UGA smh / these guys go on these OVs Sony Michel took him to the plug he paid for him and his fam to go to UGa and it was a wrap.

If that didnt happen he would be at Bama chasing a bag thats what these groupies do... they hear about this **** before their senior years. They know what time it is they have their minds made up to shxt on Miami before they hit the 11th grade.

i agree with this post to an extent... but what sales pitch is there to convince a SFL DB to stay at home instead of going to ATHENS, GA??? this **** shouldnt be that deep. It's not like Al Golden is the coach, these kids saw the atmosphere at hard rock this year, saw the buzz growing in Miami about the U but still said meh im not interested. Still not in the top 2.

I dont think there is a sales pitch out here that wouldve convinced TC or Surtain to come to UM. Nesta stayed home, you dont think he was in there ear.. the fact that money isnt the issue makes it more ridiculous imo.

Fellas, getting 5-star athletes to come to Miami doesn't guarantee us anything. Who was the last 5-star signee we've had who lived up to the billing? Our bread & butter as always been to sign tough, hard-working 3 and 4-star recruits, who aren't as highly coveted as the big names and develop them into future pros. Yes, we've had some 5-star guys pan out, but for every Duke Johnson or DJ Williams we've had, I can name you half a dozen others who didn't. Anybody remember Seantrel Henderson? Tracy Howard? Arthur Brown? Reggie Youngblood? Brandon Harris? Fortson? Guys like Denzel Perryman, Ed Reed, David Njoku and Vilma, who were 3-star guys coming out of HS and killed it at the collegiate and pro levels, are who this U was built on. Quit your crabbin' about who we didn't get. Let's focus on who we did and support them to the fullest. LET'S GO CANES!!!

Are you kidding me? Chad Thomas? Duke Johnson?

campbell went to a stacked UGA secondary, how is that a good business decision? kid won't see the field for awhile, he probably starts day one here so no he did not make the best business decision and rumph did a horrible job showing this kid that we are the best business decision for him

Lotta complainers here.

Mike Rumph AND THE REST OF THE STAFF missed on TC and Surtain. He/they also landed 5 absolute studs at DB. sorry but Rumph wasn't brought in for his top recruiting skills - that was Banda. So as far as I'm concerned all the hate on DB recruiting should primarily be targeted at him.

DL recruiting was the bigger problem this year - and im not even saying that due to Briggs or Chatman, because the truth is I honestly don't even care about those two. The fact is we should have been going for more studs like Coburn, especially at DE. Rousseau was the only true DE we were going for it seems like. That absoultely can NOT happen. If we would have landed coburn though (a major longshot it was impressive we even got that close) I would have been extremely happy with our DT recruiting. Still getting Nesta - and elite player and probably the best player in our entire class is HUGE, and Miller is a great find too. Miller is more developmental, but we don't need him this year with that grad transfer Tito and Jon Ford filling that 1tech DT role.

It's safe to say it's not the coaches.....read between the lines.

It's bags or kids want a change of scenery.

Kids have bailed for these schools before and we say it's coaching, we bring in the coaches from an SEC school yet the same schools keeps taking players....

How many of you guys have seen any of our signees or PS2 or Campbell in person? Guys are ing and moaning about kids they've never seen or watch play in person. We got some savages for DBs and i challenge anyone to tell me the difference (aside from recruiting rankings) between PS2, Campbell, Frierson, Hall and Al Blades, Jr. I can't wait to read the responses.

Here's this guy. "Durr if you haven't seen them play in person you're not allowed to comment on them."

Shut the **** up.

I expect to see people calling for Rumph's head. I don't agree at all, but I get the reaction. Losing those two monsters from his old school was a failure. I also expect to see the usual suspects complaining about South Florida kids choosing to leave town.

Here is the hard truth. If your son is an engineering prodigy, you can't blame him for going to MIT. Alabama and Georgia were in the championship. Saban is the best DB coach alive. These kids want to win championships and go pro.

We need to become the business decision for DBs. That takes time. Nesta Silvera made his own business decision to sign with the best defensive line coach in America. Brevin Jordan and Will Mallory made business decisions to sign with TEU. Jarren Williams made a business decision to sign with a proven developer of QBs.

This is a big-time class. Best offensive class in the nation and very good defensive group. Nesta was the guy keeping me up at night. Him and Ezzard are nasty human beings. Jordan Miller was a gift from the nose tackle Gods. Bethel will be next development project for Rumph. Mike Jackson and Adrian Colbert turned out pretty well.

Richt is one of the most proven recruiters in America, along with Saban and Urban. This class is another feather in his cap.

Excuses excuses excuses..
