Broaden Recruiting Scope

Seriously, you are flailing around and an idiot. Sending offers is not at this stage a huge commitment of time. They have not and cannot have done much of any real evals on OOS kids. Manny only because HC a month ago, and the recruiting coordinator has only been there a bit over two weeks. So stop your idiocy. Tossing out offers is fine. Where are you going to FOCUS. What are your PRIORITIES. Those are the questions that have to be answered.
And when SFL O-linemen not named Marcus Dumervil are passed over, when we sign the 2 NY backs, and get left at the alter at WR again because it’s all SFL then maybe you start to catch on.

Btw who’s saying to dump all our resources somewhere other than Florida? Who keeps saying this? Who’s saying to give up on local kids? Nobody is. Bama doesn’t even do that in their own state but y’all are trying to make that up in your heads because it’s the only way you can try to prove this thread idiotic. Keyword being try.

No they won’t. I’m not guessing like y’all. I grew up in this generation, I know some of these coaches. Winning isn’t going to help a thing unless we win titles. We’re not winning titles with the boderline 4* guys that this board drools over and it needs to be supplemented.

I grew up in this generation too, what your point? In your logic the year we had 10 wins and our best recruiting class in a decade was a coincidence. Wrong. Our off field success was a direct correlation to our on field success.

Then what exactly is your argument? If your argument is that we should recruit OOS then you're not saying anything new. Miami has always recruited OOS but recruiting home is, and always will be, the primary option.

To the contrary. You’re emotional, irrational and spouting idiocy. We have to do our job as a program and as a staff. The extent to which you’re butthurt over local kids going elsewhere is really amazing. Pope was a 5* kid and we got him just recently. We **** the bed on OL recruiting and still could have had Smith at C if we hadn’t ignored him all cycle.

The idea that we should not prioritize signing the best local kids is an idea rooted in failure and cuckoldery. Shame on you for spouting it.

Our greatest team ever had a tremendous amount of talent from all over the country.

We neeed to find a reasonable mix of local and national players. Staff (and current players) have done a great job of starting a pipeline from places like Vegas and NY.
Even in our glory years, we never had a decent QB from South Fla except for Craig Erickson. All from PA, OH, NY, MN, CA.

^ you’re spouting it lol. No one else is...we’re saying We to get more involved in OOS than we currently are so we can supplement the the top 4-6 SFL guys we lose every year no matter what lol. Are you really that dense?

So you back off all your whining about local kids?

This program has always selectively recruited OOS and should continue to. But fans like you sound woefully unaware of the scarcity of resources involved, or the consequences on our other recruiting efforts of trying to cover too broad an area. Flailing around out of state only to come in second over and over would be a very bad idea. It’s got to be a really targeted effort based on specific kids we think we can get, for good reasons. Beyond that we should always recruit GA, and selectively in the NE. Trying to get West Coast kids on our resources seems stupid. Doesn’t mean you don’t semd an offer but let the kid show he’s seriously interested before you spend any real time and effort on him. That’s what camps are for, also.

I never backed off. You made it up in your head. Go to post 30 in this very thread lol. Problem is being selective and waiting for these SFL kids to shoot us the bird doesn’t work anymore. You don’t get that because you think it’s the 90’s.

“That’s what camps are for” News flash guy, alot of these guys can’t afford to break the bank to go our camps.

YOU are apparently saying that. You sound unaware of what is required to actually recruit kids in far flung places. Do you not remember the weekly Jon Richt trips to the West Coast chasing a kid we didn’t get? Maybe Richt would have had a QB committed if he’s thought about resources. Instead he quit, because he failed at recruiting and it was a referendum on the program.

Alabama also has waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyy more resources dedicated to recruiting than UM. More people, more systems, more budget. So we should be careful to compare ourselves to them. Saban has a helicopter to take him to the bathroom. UM’s budget is more constraned.

41 players from the 2001 NC team were not from Florida. That's not selectively recruiting out of state.

^This guy. You said it, not me.

Maybe if Jon Richt didn’t offer one QB and went after the kid that wanted to be here and let us know(Tai) then we would have.

Shhhhhhhhhh! It’s fun watching him make up how we don’t want to recruit FL anymore.

As a New Yorker (most of my life), it was awesome to see the energy and excitement the kids showed for the U at JHH’s ceremony. We really need to take a hard look at other areas we can penetrate like we seem to have in the NYC area. It’s is pathetic how we have to continuously battle for top SoFlo talent who claim the U as their “dream school”. I really hope we can continue to leverage this pipeline (Cali & Vegas) to cherry pick players we like. And let’s stop chasing these SoFlo prima Donnas. Our new SoFlo motto should be, “Your in or kick rocks”
u have to recruit locally. that's recruit rule number 1 no matter where u are. local recruits should be the backbone of any program every school goes out of state to fill needs with top players and of course Miami should recruit nationally also we got some great kids that way ed reed, for one but u never stop going after south florida kids that's has to be your pipeline it has to

Everybody keeps saying that. Why? That’s not what we’re saying...not signaling you out but for some reason saying maybe we should bring in a bit more kids from OOS gets everybody butthurt even though these are same kids getting excited about UM football.

You are the guy whining and moaning about uncle luke. Here was your quote:

“Ok Luke. How about you stop pushing our kids to other schools and treating the team you “root” for as a joke?

Maybe then we won’t suck...

Until then I’ll be in Jacksonville finding me Lo’s, Shaq’s, Romeo’s, and Mikes, in Nevada finding Brevin, in North Carolina finding Braxton, New Jersey finding David Njoku, and Georgia finding Deejay.

Maybe I’ll stop by Michael J Krop. And find Randall St. Felix instead of Mark Pope.”

You dont seem to grasp the resources limitation.

It’s easy in retrospect to second guess where you spent resources, because hindsight is 20/20. That’s precisely why you can never lose sight of doing a professional job of recruiting locally.

Oh yea, great bump to prove your point.

“YoU WaNTZ Tu StAP REcrOOtInG SfL”

Didn’t know Michael J. Krop wasn’t in South Florida. You kwant to get in on the bet that Amari Daniels doesn’t attend UM? I’ll up it and say he goes to FSU because “Telly Lockette is the best crooter Evers!”.

So I say we put resources into QB A when we should’ve put it in QB B but I don’t understand resources yet you want me to keep recruiting kids I would figure out aren’t coming here by September and waste resources that because they play for Central, Carol City, etc and was TE my time that way?

It’s misleading to scrub the roster that way. The primary players broke down a lot more normally. Amd that was with Butch’s eye for talent, coming off debilitating sanctions.

WR: AJ, Beard from Florida, Parrish too (FR). D. Jones was born in TX. No recollection of his recruitment.
RB: Portis, Gore, McGahee (RS) from Florida; Najeh was a good OOS take, Payton was the son of the GOAT
QB: CA kid. We shluld always recruit broadly at QB, no argument there.
TE: a juco in Shockey (I think we should recruit MORE jucos and have said so on this board, so no complaint there, but juco recruiting is a separate topic from Hs recruiting); KWII was one of the top recruits in the country. We should always be willing to take very top kids from anywhere.
OL: Gonzalez, Myers, Carey, Joseph from FL; McKinnie was a juco - see my comment on Shockey. We also had two Canadians (Kehoe specials) and an Iranian. Go figure.

DL: Joseph, Walters, Williams, McDougle, Thomas and Wilford were FL kids. Green was a Nj kid iirc.
LB: Vilma, McClover were from FL. DJ was the top plyer in the country coming out of Hs. Of course we take kids like that. C. Campbell was from TX. Also a good OOS take.
DB: all FL kids except for Ed Reed. And he’s from LA. And LSU was not on its game back then. If your argument comes down to recruit more ed reeds, we better have a back up plan.

Point is, most DBs were local. Most DL were. LB was a mix but only with top OOS kids. OL and QB are always going to be a mix. WR and RB were largely local. And TE was a juco and a top national recruit. Even back with Butch, recruiting with sanctions, the team was built on local players. And the OOS kids we had were a mix of top, top recruits, jucos and Canadian OL.
