I suppose I’ll take an L on this but…I still really can’t believe it

You take a penalty to put the team on the edge of field goal range? While they still have a timeout and another play where they can most likely easily get 5-10 yards in the middle of the field?

And what makes you look like a genius instead of a corch is the QB absolutely short circuiting?

The Buddy Ryan play makes perfect sense. This? I would never root for OSU but he should have been punished by the football gods on this one if he’s telllng the truth
 
There’s a rule/penalty against this but it’s so rarely called/used that it may as well not be a rule - “unfair tactics” penalty is a 15 yard penalty and automatic 1st down.

If called (glad it wasn’t because #DeathToOSU) it would’ve massively backfired on Lanning and setup OSU for the game winning FG

They were on the 43. The time is more valuable than 5 yards at that point. He clearly did it on purpose, like it's a 100.0% fact, I think you're realizing that but people are still digging in their heels and it's hilarious.

I personally don’t think the time/yardage tradeoff is worth it there

But if he did…whelp he’s a head coach and I’m not

Exactly what I was thinking for the last 10 years.

Second thought was always the kicker blasts a knuckle ball at the up man at least once a game. Best case is hits up man and scramble for the ball. Worst case is hit nobody and the ball is a scooped up at the 10 yd line with the entire blocking scheme ****ed up.

Needs to be a rule change. Offense should at the least have an optional 10 seconds added on with a too many men on the field within 2 minutes. Or return the clock back to what it was when the previous play ended. Any time it takes to set up for a play that ends up being vs 12 men should be returned back to the offense.

Their fans need to be checked. Obviously the lack of a trophy case doesn’t bring the shame or almost losing to the state of Idaho.

"This is why you come to Oregon ... to play in big games".

When was the last "big" game Oregon played in the three years he's been there besides losing twice to Washington?

Lanning is hated much more here now than he was when we thought Mario hired him ....

Fascinating.
 
Now that it’s property being scrutinized we can say savvy move or not by Lanning, it definitely was poor sportsmanship and low class. I will root for Washington in the final week of the regular season to once again wreck Oregon’s year.
