Wait you think Davis is on par with Roberts, Porter, and Curtis? I mean I guess maybe Porter. Davis started at OU over 20 games. He was a starter last year. I understand he isn't a 6'2 CB with long arms and great athleticism, but our CB room is better with Davis, trust me.

No doubt the room is better. Still need a legit contender for opposite boundary corner though.

Don’t hate bringing in Davis it’s just eh. Raises our floor, not ceiling.

But that can be very important with injuries.

Davis is fine. Nothing more, nothing less. His biggest asset is probably special teams and culture. Seems like a good local kid who can help us recruit as well. I don't expect a great player at CB based on his tape. Just hope this is the start of 4-6 portal guys jumping in for us.

I know they need bodies. Does this guy have any abilities in press coverage?

I recall someone talking about Guidry’s defense being reliant on corners who can press.

Without Davis, Malik Curtis is in the 2 deep and Myles Mooyoung is in the 3 deep. Jussayin

DJ ivey is significantly better than him man lol I bs you not
While that is an extremely scary point (and I might get some flak for the next part)...I actually think Ivey would have been ok in Guidry's scheme. He does his best work when pressing.

I know we need bodies but man, they couldn't convince anyone else for depth?

How many spots do we even have available? By my count if Jaden Davis commits that gives Miami 82 guys assuming Ragone is still on scholarship...has the transfer portal window closed for anymore of our guys to leave?

I think we might have some grad guys, but I was shocked none of the OL entered. I think Rodriguez and Seymore know they aren't landing at a P5 or decent G5 program, and would rather just stick it out here. If you're going to ride the bench, might as well be in Miami.

He was a low 4* coming out of high school.
He has nearly the same low 4* ranking as a transfer.

He’s basically performed at the exact level he was projected.

A low 4* just isn’t an elite college player.

A guy that exactly meets low 4* expectations (let's say the #350 ranked player in HS and college) as you said is a UFA that maybe makes an NFL practice squad for a bit. It's wild to me how people have star fever and don't understand that the websites flood the market with stars to give themselves a chance to look good when 1 of 4 pan out.

If things go chalk...

A high 4-star is a guy who ends his NFL career worth 8 or 9 figures.

A low 4-star is a guy who probably ends up working at Enterprise Rent-A-Car for 30 years or ends up as gym teacher.

All 4-stars do not hit the same.

You not only know the CB position on a high enough level to work on the coaching/analytical side in CFB but you had a relative on that team who I’d think went up against him every day in practice.

If you’re saying it, that’s all I need to know.
I hate to sound so rough but i don’t understand why we’re wasting a spot. He needs to play on a lower level

Depth isn't the problem! Good or proven depth is the problem. Jaden is proven "bad" depth, all the young guys is "unknown depth".....this is the issue!
