Smh Davis.

Oklahoma sooner wagon.

I'm perplexed by the Davis love as well. But the thing is, Guidry knows DBs. And if he thinks Davis adds to his CB room despite being very similar to Couch, Roberts, Porter and Curtis ... well, he obviously believes Davis is either as good as them or more likely better than them. Given Couch and Porter started last year, I expect that means we're getting an upgrade in Davis, even if it's not a Tier 1 upgrade, and Guidry has a plan on how to use him. Even incremental improvement is better than no improvement. Just keep stacking.

100%. I do have all the trust in Guidry right now. I’ve been saying we got a steal at DC and I’ll ride with his decision-making (assuming he had to have some say).

But we have to grab a DB2. Someone alongside Brown.

On a related note, it's absolutely flabbergasting to me that we had round 2 and round 7 CBs go pro, and we all expect the CBs in 2023 to perform better than last season. The NFL thought 2 of our 3 best players in the draft were CBs. Incredible.

With Graves not ready, Davis, Couch and Porter will probably begin the season battling for the second starting CB spot, with 2 of them starting when we're in a spread nickel package. I expect Damari will eventually win the starting spot during ACC play as he's better than all those guys. But those lineups are too one dimensional. Ideally we can get another CB that is taller, faster, more agile and more instinctual than what we have on roster now.

Because he’s not good lol. But sure I’ll get my Pom poms out and cheer for everyone we acquire.

I’m not some mope and I’ve been called a homer plenty of times. I call it like I see it. I hope he does well, but of all the corners out there…we can do way better. That’s all. At best he raises our floor, which you can argue is needed…but this isn’t an impactful acquisition that moves the needle.

Just wanted someone with far more upside. Hopefully he’s a leader I guess and can bring some experience?
Everyone isn't always going to be impact players. Some guys will be team-first oriented that adds quality depth. We could do much worse for depth.

Davis comes here to be a backup with 1 year left? Wouldn't he want to play somewhere he is guaranteed to start?

Wait you think Davis is on par with Roberts, Porter, and Curtis? I mean I guess maybe Porter. Davis started at OU over 20 games. He was a starter last year. I understand he isn't a 6'2 CB with long arms and great athleticism, but our CB room is better with Davis, trust me.

But didn't we already get that in Roberts and Porter? Guidry obviously knows his CB room. So I am sure he knows how to use Davis. But there are a lot of similar body types that don't seem highly differentiated in that room right now.

OU's defense was trash. How many games has Couch or Flagg started? My eyes tell me Davis is mid, not an all conference type player. But again, I trust Guidry knows better than all of us what he needs in that CB room.

p.s., I know a lot of people feel Porter had a great Spring, but I just don't see much in him. And Couch has flashed but overall is meh. The younger Brown is going to be an instant upgrade IMO. We'll see. either way, we need another chess piece with different traits.

I don't follow Oklahoma at all but sounds like everyone thinks this kid is no good? I saw he was listed as the starter for them on one of their early depth charts to begin last season. What makes him so terrible? Honest question. Slow? Poor in coverage?

Ive heard people compare him to Ivey in that the always has strong camps and is then listed as a starter only to get abused in games.
