For 3 straight seasons, Jaden Davis had a strong camp at OU, began the season as the starter, got torched in coverage once actual games were played, and then was benched.

Technically last year was *slightly* different as he played poorly yet again before suffering a minor injury. He was replaced in the lineup by a super senior and former low 3* transfer from Wyoming in C.J. Coldon who clearly outplayed Davis and kept the starting job when Davis was healthy again.

If we land 1 or 2 other higher-caliber CB's in the portal, then this won't matter as anything more than emergency depth. But ideally, we'll be able to land a much better CB via the portal to pair with Davonte Brown.

So essentially Ivey gets a 6th year. Wonderful.

100%. I do have all the trust in Guidry right now. I’ve been saying we got a steal at DC and I’ll ride with his decision-making (assuming he had to have some say).

But we have to grab a DB2. Someone alongside Brown.
Underwhelming for sure. But I'll wait a year before flying the white flag.

Oh don't get me wrong, I'm not crying that Mario is failing in the portal. He did much better than people are projecting in both the winter cycle, and for the 2022 season. Plenty of starters and players at the top of their position. And I still expect to land some premier talent...at DL, WR, CB and potentially LB. Also expect an RB and OL still.

I'm merely saying that even for depth purposes or "raising the floor" candidates, he's not anywhere remotely close to the top of my list. There were plenty of other guys out there to grab that weren't passed up at a defensively-challenged program. Everyone is saying Rambo this and Rambo that, but OU's offensive skill players are different than their defense ones.

That’s fair…. But coming out of HS Davis was evaluated and considered a 4star prospect who was Good. Obviously, he hasn’t performed to that ranking, but the hope is that a change of scenery (scheme, coaching, being close to home) can get Davis back on his HS ranking trajectory. Also it’s a position that needs quality depth, if Miami gets lucky and he turns into a CB1 or CB2 it’s a bonus. But a lot of people thought he was Good coming out HS from powerhouse STA, so he’s really a no brainer. But point remains we have a bunch of positions we need guys to step up and play to their potential!

He’s very very bad. I’m not often critical of kids like that but I don’t understand the take. I was front row for a lot of his practices and I don’t know how he ended up a D1 player. Small and slow
Careful my friend, takes like that around here will get you burnt at the stake.

Tell them he's going to be a leader amongst young men and all of a sudden push Couch to become an All-Conference player.

He was a low 4* coming out of high school.
He has nearly the same low 4* ranking as a transfer.

He’s basically performed at the exact level he was projected.

A low 4* just isn’t an elite college player.

You not only know the CB position on a high enough level to work on the coaching/analytical side in CFB but you had a relative on that team who I’d think went up against him every day in practice.

If you’re saying it, that’s all I need to know.

Waste of a spot…. Adding an older JAG to the room.

Im okay with the younger kids and letting them get some baptism by fire… I rather watch true freshmen up to sophomores taking their lumps and learning than watching some senior whose proven to be a jag taking reps

Welcome to the U!! Jaden Davis is going to show out here and prove the doubters (90% of this board) wrong.
