Barry jackson sports buzz: my proof the defense quit

I agree with the players who are frustrated.

If the DL can't get pressure then D'Onofrio needs to fire up some Rex Ryan style blitzes. I'd rather give up 500 yards because we were aggressive with opportunities for turnovers and big plays than 500 yards of them just running circles around the defense and Miami just standing around allowing it to happen.

You can't spend three years training Dlinemen to hold onto offensive linemen and then suddenly expect them to know how to AVOID them instead so the can get to QB. Our blitzes suck because there is no organic pressure on the QB for dline-- and that is by design. Our old defenses where always is "rush the passer mode". Meet me at the QB and play the run on the way was basic rule. We will never get pressure with Al's defense. It's design is like the PSU D that beat Vinny and JJ. Frustrate the QB and OC by denying the big play and hope for picks. It was actually working a little against FSU in the first half, but Jimbo made the changes that JJ did not. Problem is you need ball control, grind out the clock run offense to go with it. We have never had that so no signs of ever having it. Al is trying to change our DNA. He has failed and will continue to fail. It would be easier for him to merely change his mind but I fear pride has made him stupid -- it usually does that.

For the life of me I still don't know why Golden would keep No D on his staff...he practically has fielded the worst defense in the history of canes football

he's running Al's DEFENSE... the coordinator, in this case, has minimal say in the scheme.. golden can't fire D'Onof for doing exactly what's being asked of him.

We're ****ed. Golden needs to find a way to get rid of his butt buddy.

He has a way. Goes like this: you're fired

He has no intention of replacing him.
And if he hasn't already, he never will.

Dohnofrio would have been fired probably mid season at any other school in D1A or D1AA. The defense was the absolute WORST.

It's insulting to the fans and this program that these two clowns are running the show.

Not sure which games you watched, but both those lines got pressure on the QB. Vinnie was having to make quick decisions and failed. Winston was holding onto the ball to long and in the 2nd half cut the time in half before the pressure got there. Those two D's are nothing like we run here. They actually forced the O's hand to do something. WE sit back and let the O do what they want without making any change or God forbid dictate what they will do.

It's not Dorito's fault, it's not Golden's fault. It's our fault. We post mean things on here, and that's why the defense sucks.

After reading this, I've just about decided to put my support for this program on hold for a few years. At the rate we are going now, we'll be lucky to end up with a Div. 2 football team when the Nitwit Lions are finally done with us. Have been reading this and other Miami boards for some weeks now and it's just sickening to see what is happening to the Canes.I know I'm not alone in wondering what kind of Amateur Hour we have now in Coral Gables. It gets worse every day. It is beyond sad,

so many trolls

if you are in fact a UM fan we will see you. Please dont come back when its our turn again

fanbase quit too...

3 inept coaching staffs and 10+ years of mediocrity will do that.

we're jumping the gun a bit on the proclamations of ineptness of this staff... recruiting has gone well, our record has continued to improve... all this with NCAA crap going on.. I think we'll have more of an idea next season.. al's first "real" class will be juniors, even though we're breaking in a new QB, if we can at the very least match this seasons record and gt a bowl win..i'll be on board.. now if he pulls a randy and loses a 2 or 3 more games than we did last year, that's a different story

oh, and we have evidence that Al and D'onof can put together a solid defense.. which buys them time/credibility.

They've gutted everything we've ever known about Miami Hurricane defenses. The days of confident, fast-twitch corners playing bump and run at the line and shutting their man down is over. We've traded in smaller linebackers that you wouldn't dare try to run sideline to sideline on for a group that is being transformed into three 250 pound glaciers. Fast defensive linemen that fire off the ball, get up field and attack the QB? Nope. We're gonna pack more and more weight on Chickillo until he can barely move and ask him to contain.

Offenses are evolving and spread offenses are becoming the norm. 3 and 4 wide receivers out wide on most plays. Our counter? Remain in a base 3-4. Tyriq McCord and AQM should have their hands in the ground, not out trying to cover a kid in the flats. "Oh, we just need the talent level to increase, then this defense will work." Yeah, I see remaining in the base 3-4 even with 5 stars everywhere is working extremely well for Alabama when playing a spread.

**** Al Golden, **** his boyfriend, and **** this whack ***, goofy, UVA, old *** Al Groh, concrete footed, piece of **** defense. I hate with these Big 10 fa-gots are doing to this team. The sad part is, Dorito is an ******* and the kids have already listened to him and all they have to show for it is a bunch of 500 yard games. They're gonna quit again next year.

awesome. don't let the door hit you in the *** on the way out.

I've got a good guess what that "db" stands for in your screen name, but I can't publish my guess because of the new rules.

Did you watch the games? The defense sucked.

Yup, part of the reason we didn't give up more points in 2011 is because we played at a snail pace on offense.

How is the offense playing slow and keeping the defense fresh a bad thing? It has been well documented that the offense this season hurt the defense by low 3rd down conversion percentages or home run plays early in drives.

How did that "slow it down and protect the defense" plan work out for us as a team in 2011? What was our record?

Man, I don't know if this can survive 8 months of both sides posting the exact same crap over and over and over and over again. This is far behind the usual repetitive things on message boards.

Its like you are all working at the mcdonalds drive through, having to repeat "do you want to supersize that".

Perfect example of lowered expectations. The bar has reached epic lows.

Last season, the goal was winning the ACC Coastal and compete for the ACC 'ship. Now the expectations are... Don't be worse than last year.

The guy posted an article about players complaining about Corch Duh. Did you expect the conversation in here to be about tulips and rainbows?
