Barry jackson sports buzz: my proof the defense quit

This...however our recruiting is only half there. We are doing well with stocking up on big time OL recruits this yr but imo Golden needs to do a better job of bringing in a lot of big time RB like Alabama has. We need regular hauls of at least Yearby and Cook and/or Sony not just one if we want to play that style.

OUR D NEEDS A MORE GRIND IT OUT BALL CONTROL KILL CLOCK KINDA OFFENSE

THIS YEAR TOO MUCH ALL OUT 3 AND OUT TYPE OF OFFENSE

fanbase quit too...

3 inept coaching staffs and 10+ years of mediocrity will do that.

oh, and we have evidence that Al and D'onof can put together a solid defense.. which buys them time/credibility.

Golden's total defense rankings as a DC/HC:

UVA
2001: 93
2002: 100
2003: 67
2004: 18
2005: 60

Temple
2006: 117
2007: 44
2008: 81
2009: 32
2010: 16

Miami
2011: 45
2012: 116
2013: 90

- 13 seasons, his average defensive ranking is 68th.
- He's fielded a top 30 defense just twice in 13 seasons
- 6 times he's had a defense ranked 80th or worse

In an attempt to be fair, in the three years before he was hired at UM, his defenses at Temple went from 81 to 32 to 16. At Temple.

The problem is he doesn't play good offenses in the MAC. In the MAC, you play a lot of teams who don't have game changers, solid skilled players, and you have lots of mistake prone players.

AL IS A MASTER OF DECEPTION

Not really. He couldn't even convince his momma (Ped State) to let him come home. He's not fooling anyone with half a brain anymore. The only people still buying into his buffoonery are the same corch worshippers who will suck up to any corch all the way to the bloody end. They did it with Coker and Shannon, and they'll do it with BFP Golden.

Not surprised Penn State balked at Golden.
Alot of their former players are coaching college and NFL, and others like Todd Blackledge and Matt Millen watch alot of
college football games as that is what they do for a living.
I don't know how influential Millen and Blackledge are with their alma-mater, but I know see them on the sidelines during
their spring scrimmages, so they remain involved with that program.
They must have been horrified at the thought of him and D'Onofrio coaching their school.
They're not idiots.

I love and want Golden to succeed here more than anything. Just wish he wasn't so stubborn about keeping D'Onofrio on board with him. It would have been refreshing and exciting to be going into next season with a new, capable, aggressive DC.

I do truly believe Golden is a CEO type. But I also think it was irresponsible of him to not let go of Coach D this offseason.

As a Lions fan, I disagree with your assessment that Millen's not an idiot. But I agree with the rest of what you posted. BFP Golden's not fooling anyone. The analysis is really simple at its base, and here it is: Your specialty is supposed to be defense. Why couldn't you fix the Miami defense in 3 years? Why was it worse than it's every been in its history in the last game that you played against Loserville?

Who's to say AG wouldnt just hire a DC that would use the same philosophy Dorito does if he got canned. AG is the coach so whatever scheme Dorito is running he's doing it with his blessing.

I don't understand why people keep hammering at Ono's replacement. This is Al system, and that is why he isn't scapegoating Ono. He has run this same **** all the way back. When he was the DC at Virginia. Groh ran the same crap at GT, and got fired early in 2012. For giving up 500 yards a game. Just like his understudy is doing now.

You guys are kidding yourself that Ono being replaced. Would change the outcome. Al would hire someone who will run his system. The same way he has the current guy.

He's not only doing it with BFP Golden's blessing; he's doing it with BFP Golden's full support and input. Golden and Doritos installed the defense together. It's THEIR baby, not just Doritos'.

Well this says that his defense improves an average of 49 spots in his 4th year at the helm. Looks like our total defense will be somewhere in the 40's next year fellas.

If he ever brought someone in, it would have to be a complete different scheme and he would have to be hands off. That is the hope anyway.
