Barry Jackson on D'Onofrio

Oregon's players on defense are a lot faster smaller. Golden is trying to turn my canes into a big 10 team. big and slow

Like any scheme, it depends on the personnel. If you can find a monster NT and some good rush OLBs, it will be very successful. Stanford's D is a 3-4 two gap D. A lot of Ds have been successful with this system. It's all about finding the pieces. It may or may not be a great cultural fit for SF athletes, but the scheme itself isn't incapable of being successful.

I would not call Stanford's scheme a predominant 2-gap scheme.

Picksix, why don't you jump into the discussion here and stop making direct comments to my inbox. Maybe you can help us understand the scheme better.

Yeah, the low rent nut sack won't come out and discuss anything - goes to inbox's.

Like this dumass knows anything about anything.

I think we'll start seeing that the more players that we get in here that were evaluated and recruited by our staff the better the "scheme" will appear..

Unfortunately, that's not really the metric that will make the biggest difference for us. I think everyone can agree the defense will look better with better players in it. The key is "will they play above or beneath their collective talent level?" That's the heart of the matter. My personal opinion is certain things need to be adjusted for that to occur. Others disagree. We'll see what the coaching staff decides. As I said during the year, I don't doubt they are aware of their options.

I just hope that after another crappy showing, the administration and major boosters suddenly become aware of THEIR options. This is really getting old.

The notion that we did not blitz a lot last year is incorrect. Not counting the Savannah State game, we blitzed 157 times-by far the most times in the last six years. We just did not blitz very well.

The defense last year played fairly well until the FSU game and then it fell off the table. There were almost no injuries and none of them were key injuries. Hard to explain.

This is it, my torture. Years and years and years ....how much longer must we go through this bullsh*t that hangs on and hangs on. The waiting.....arrgghhhhhhhh!

A lot of you dont know **** about football. Being aggressive doesnt mean blitzing every play. Our corners are not playing any press coverage at all which is why on those 3rd downs when they are 10 yards off the wr when the offense only needs 4 or 5 yards you see automatic 1st downs.

This defense doesnt even attack down hill in the run game they just wait for guys to come to them rather than trying to blow plays up. Our lbs play so far from the line of scrimmage by time they come up the rb all ready has 5 yards. Our d-line just stands up and catches blocks rather than firing off the ball.

I never seen a 3-4 defense that does not use the olbs as pass rushers. You really did not see them bringing the olbs off the edge to rush the qb like the only time teams throw the football is 3rd down. **** is just a mess and they talkin about same defense seattle uses **** out of here.

Dorito sucks.....

This defense will finish between 75th and 100th in the nation again for total yards allowed. Close to the 89th total defense ranking they finished with in 2013. Anyone who thinks otherwise is going to have their hopes crushed again. Bobby Petrino is already laughing at how easy it will be to dink and dunk right down the field on this defense. Crossing routes all day and slot receivers matched up against linebackers and defensive ends for easy 3rd down conversions.

74th and I am a winner...

All this.

Our corners bail out even on 3rd and mediums making for easy conversions. Our DL never fires off the ball and as a result we rarely disrupt the play in the backfield. It seems like every run is good for at least 3 yards no matter how well we play it.

And on 1st and 2nd down if I have to see us try and get pressure with Chick and two DTs again I'm gonna lose my ****.

I can't tell you how many times last season we rushed Chick, Pierre/Robinson and Porter/Renfrow. How the **** are three DTs supposed to get pressure on the quarterback? That **** is comical. Opposing OCs have to laugh at our defense. Absolutely no balls.

Golden/Doritos are so afraid of the big play they're OK with giving up 8 yards a play.

skinsfanedi Master Cane;1840158]No monster defensive lineman on the planet is going to help if they're being asked to drop into coverage or not penetrate upfield.

The entire ****ing scheme is beyond ridiculous. It's the most ill conceived piece of hot garbage I've seen in 30 years of watching football. Someone explain to me why there were instances where we had TWO deep safeties in goal line situations.

And to whoever was saying they didn't have a problem with linebackers walking out to cover slot guys...the ****ing problem starts BEFORE you get to that point. It starts when the other team has 4 wide receivers in the game and we're still sporting 3 linebackers in the huddle before the snap.

Shannon may have been a horrible and simplistic coach...and even though I didn't agree with alot of what he did I could at least seeas TRYING to do. With these 2 clowns from Temple....I don't have a ****ing clu
e going into year 4.

Best post yet!

So if everyone hates Dorito now, why did I have to defend myself for years on different forums every time I called out the pathetic scheme, playcalling and personnel usage? What made everyone change their minds?

We've been running the same crap with the same results since Golden was hired. Anyone remember the Maryland game where their supposed stud Fr QB O'Brien (now at powerhouse Catawba college) dinked and dunked his way down the field running a Gary Crowton offense that was canned that very same year? From the very start our D was getting picked apart by talentless teams coached by CFL caliber coaches (that's where Crowton went after Maryland fired him). I know we had some injuries and suspensions for that game but the signs were all there that we have a clueless coaching staff.

I remember the Maryland game. That was where 12 of our best players were suspended "thanks Radio!" which included our starting QB. I'm sure that had something to do with personnel groupings. Big changes weren't even made to the defense that year. What was ran last season was night and day different from season 1.

That team had two wins. TWO all season. We were their only FBS win. Your stupidity knows no bounds.

Miami only had SIX wins all season long and that game against Maryland was on the road to start the season missing TWELVE of the best players on the roster which included the starting QB. Looks like those cold coffee enemas are effecting your brain limp wrist.

Miami was a 6-7 team before the Maryland game where the HC was fired. Now take away TWELVE starters on the road to open the season and you can't understand why the loss happened? Must be schemezzz right retards?

My bad... 12 were involved and 8 were suspended. So 8 players from an already ****** team which includes the starting QB went on the road to lose. Must be schemezzz!

"CORAL GABLES, Fla. -- Quarterback Jacory Harris and 11 other Miami players who accepted extra benefits from former booster Nevin Shapiro will be allowed by the NCAA to play again, the first sanctions in a scandal that continues to overshadow the Hurricanes.

Of those, eight will miss at least one game, and all 12 must pay restitution."- Miami Herald

I remember that game too. Do you remember the first play of the game? Maryland called a timeout on offense!! Why might you ask? They saw our alignment!! Came out of the timeout and we are still lined up the same. Then they proceed to run a 40 yard play to open the game. Was that the players, or the coaches? Would any of the suspended players stop that?
