As if you needed more news today...

If Al is offering someone the OC gig, you know **** well he's gonna run the offense Al wants to run. He's not gonna bring someone in and let and them whatever they want, it's gonna be someone who has the same idea of what an offense is going to look like that Al wants. Dunno too much about Coley, but I'm willing to bet whoever the OC is, we're gonna be running a bunch of 2 TE sets with more "pro" concepts than "spread" ones.

Come on mane. You got to give me something here. LOL. How often would an assistant like this be leaking info if he did have an offer like this? The fact that he is, leads me to think at a MINIMUM, he's hoping Jimbo steps up and makes him an offer to stay. If this was coming from our side, Id have more faith in the info, but coming from the Noles side, Im taking it with a grain of salt. Those F8ckers would love nothing more than to embarass us right now, especially with many of these key recruits.

Don't you guys think he used the other various jobs (Kentucky, FIU) as leverage plays already? Maybe he was already promised more $$, and it is just a matter of him wanting to call plays.

Definitely. What is there to mull over? You know the program, people, area... Etc. And the conversation must've begun yesterday with the wife.

If he hasn't accepted in the next 24 hours, I pull the offer and leak it to a source. Have fun going back to Tally with nothing.

Only problem with this theory is that this will all be resolved in a matter of days. And it can actually work to our disadvantage. If he turns us down, and they all have a good laugh about it, they sell to these recruits, Miami doesnt even have an OC, and desperately wanted OURs, so why go there, you can play for the actual OC they wanted and didnt get. They can just use this to embarass us. That's why Im cautious with this info, LOT of incentive here for both Coley, and FSU to use this as a tool to embarass us, or just get more money for Coley up there.
 
Another interesting fact is Coley coached new UM GA Kareem Brown while at Norland... There's another connection to the UM staff

Yep, and then make the annoucement that "there is no current offer for that individual". Dont let them use it against us. Guy is an FSU alum, coaching at FSU, and they can surely pay him more than we can. And a coach in these situations sure as **** never puts out info that he is "seriously considering" or "leaning towards accepting" an offer unless its a ploy, or they have already made up their minds to accept.

Something about this whole thing feels like a set up to me. I mean on the night Thomas is starting his OV here? When Stacy Coley is goign to be here for the Duke game too? What a perfect set up but to make it look like we went begging for their OC who doesnt even call plays, and he told us to f*ck off and laughed in our face. I dont put ANYHING past Jimbo.
 
We haven't had this much good news in 1 day since the boys decided to come back for the 2001 season.

Also, as much as I love every opportunity to stick it to FSU, can someone, Lu perhaps, give me an idea of whether they think he's a good X's and O's guy? I've seen his resume and can make a reasonable guess, but I never watched FIU. Was his offense different there than it has been at FSU (knowing that Jimbo has his hands all over that offense)?

This would be extremely exciting from a recruiting standpoint. From x's and o's I'm unsure but if Golden think he's the man I'll give the guy a chance.

Still trying to temper any excitement though - just don't see how Jimbo lets this happen. With the mass assistant turnover he's already had, losing his best recruiter, who happens to be recruiting several of the remaining targets, to the school located in the home town of said remaining targets, who also happens to be the main rival and in the same conference.

Guess we'll see...


The ncaa news alone is enough excitement so whatever else happens is just icing on the cake. Coley/Duke/Commits etc...
 
Don't know about this one. Not being negative at all, but FSU boosters may make this a bidding war to keep the guy, only because it another ACC school, especially UM. Not sure if we can hang, if that's the case.

Public records says Coley makes $211k, but I don't buy that... Public records also reflects that Jimbo only makes $231k annually.

If this is the case, I'm sure some booster would be willing to make up the difference, before allowing the guy to come to UM.

Sorry, Wush, I've mentioned that Coley is a complete unknown to me. I'm hoping what we saw at FSU was Jimbo. I suspect it was, as Jimbo is a notorious micro-manager and Coley wasn't calling plays. I just don't really know **** about him.

I found a report that says Coley makes 335k....any idea what Fisch made?

Yes. There are a ton of people who went to Florida state because it was cheap and they wanted to get away from home. But they remained huge canes fans. I'm one of them
