As if you needed more news today...

That angle about him being an FSU alum don't mean squat. Why? Because him being from South Florida didn't keep him from going to FSU

If he loves his alma mater like I do mine it'll MOST DEFINITELY play some factor in his decision. He might not trust Jimbutt at this point.

Yea but he grew up a UM fan it doesnt matter where u graduated from or went to school. Im sure there people who attend fsu that like Um but couldnt get in. Same with some UM people like fsu who knows if UM was his first love.

I'm not saying he doesn't love FSU, but people go away for different reasons....I am just saying he grew up a UM fan, and it's not like he despises the program the way we despise FSU.

But we dont know that he grew up a UM fan. Yes he grew up close to the OB, but there are lots of people who grew up and live in Miami who ended up at UF or FSU and root for those teams over the Canes. Trecherous filthy scumbags that they are.

LOL i would stay loyal like Landon Collins mom. If my son attended FSU and was a star and playing against UM i would root against my child thats just how im built. It would be all over Espn" Dad roots against sons team"

How can you recruit against Barrow, Richardson, Golden, Cristobal, AND Coley? Olvidate coño, pepper los culos. God, I love this U.

Where you went to school for 4 years and graduated doesn't matter? I gotta respectfully disagree on a huge scale with this.

BUT, let's say his goal is head coach at FSU . . . . What's the best road?

A. Being the OC at FSU when Jimbo leaves (keeping in mind he could've voluntarilly left for a number of schools this year)

B. Being the OC at Miami when Jimbo leaves FSU

Option A requires more faith in things Coley cannot control
Option B requires more faith in his own abilities

This is a great point.

The fact that Jimbo is fighting so hard to keep him should tell you a lot about his abilities as an OC.

Jimbo is calling the plays anyway and could easily find another OC to come in and do the same job. He didn't have to match UM's offer he could've just let him walk. Clearly Jimbo feels like Coley was instrumental in his offense's success to the point where he's fighting to keep and even willing to give up some of his own responsibilities to keep him and that's a good enough endorsement for me.

OR,

Jimbo knows that Coley is the primary recruiter left on this staff, and that they are in a tight race for a bunch of big time kids, and he doesnt want to lose his last best recruiter to their cross state rival, two weeks before signing day. I honestly think this is more about recruiting, than about Coley's ability as an OC, from Jimbo's perspective. Jimbo staff has imploded this year. HAd they not lost SO many coaches, I think he would probably have let Coley walk.

the world isn't black and white and the reasoning of both posts has likely played into how this has played out

This has nothing to do with recruiting. We are getting 6 and Kirkland regardless.

Coley has never beat us head up for a recruit.

We want him on the staff for his coaching abilities. He will certainly help recruiting.

I don't know if I could say this has NOTHING to do with recruiting. come on. all indications are the guy is a monster recruiter. that has got to be one of his biggest assets on his resume at this point. his ability to recruit south florida for us and potentially not against us has to be playing into this

A lot of smoke coming from Warchant saying it's done. He has accepted. The whole board has now moved on to who to replace Coley with.

According to RIVALS....these are the kids Coley has been responsible for landing the last 3 years....

2012

Sean Maguire
Christo Kourtzidis

2011

Lamarcus Brutus
Ruben Carter
Arrington Jenkins
Joshue Matias

2010

Greg Dent
Mike Harris
Damien Jacobs
DeJoshua Johnson
Lamarcus Joyner
Jeff Luc
Will Tye
Bjoren Werner

His 2010 haul was impressive...but he didn't beat us straight up for anyone other than Joyner and Dent. Joyner was never coming here and Dent flipped.

My point......Landing him won't have a huge impact on recruiting against FSU. It will help tremendously against UF, Clemson, Bama and the other schools that have done damage to us by taking Amari Cooper, Corey Lemonier, etc.
