Two things tell me a lot:

1) Cristobal vouches for him
2) Saban took him from LSU to the pros. There's no recruiting in the AFC East. It's about intelligence and work ethic.

Didnt saban have the most coaches ever on that staff? He basically took everybody he could find, lol...

As I told D$ over the phone, what worries me about #2 is that Saban was a cluster**** in the pros. Despite a mediocre record (he was slightly below .500), he's openly admitted that he didn't deal well with the "parity" of the pro game. Why? Because that's when you need tactical advantages in order to compete and he felt a bit hamstrung by it all. Additionally, it's not like he has a fantastic eye for offensive coaching talent anyway or that Coley has been a noted strategist anywhere. All in all, despite D$'s logical #2 observation, I think Coley is still a significant unknown.

Saban didn't fail in the pros due to tactical failures. He had the most robust and expensive staff in the NFL. It was often reported he had 23 coaches and this didn't include the quality control guys he had. Jim Mandich, Joe Rose and Kim Bokamper used to joke that he had a coach for every starting player.

So if you throw a massive quantity of coaches at something, that fixes a broader issue? What made him need 23 coaches? What made his situation so unique? He failed because he didn't have the inherent advantages he does at Bama (or LSU beforehand) and couldn't compete on a level playing field. He has admitted as much.

That, and because he chose to ride with this guy:

As is being discussed off the board...

Same source as before, and D$ may be able to confirm: Coley will be made official tomorrow or Friday.

To believe or not to believe Nole sources. Who knows.

Just logged on. Haven't followed what has happened today. Can anyone give me a brief summary?

Apparently "sources" say Coley has accepted the OC position at Miami now, leaving FSU 2 weeks before NSD to go to a rival. #deadtome

Noles say that Fisher is willing to give up "some" playcalling duties. Many porsters over on Warchant believe he is gone. NoleDigest writer just tweeted that he accepted. George McDonald spotted at Hecht.
