That is one ****ed off group of Noles....not that I blame them. Basically will cost them 6 and Kirkland for sure, and probably any shot at a couple others.

Another thing I read is that Jimbo consistently veered from the game plan the two worked on for the week. I would imagine that has eroded any bit of trust Coley has in Jimbo's word. Also, if Jimbo is the one responsible to straying from the plan, it is Jimbo that abandons the run and gets pass happy, not vice versa.

The fact that Jimbo is fighting so hard to keep him should tell you a lot about his abilities as an OC.

Jimbo is calling the plays anyway and could easily find another OC to come in and do the same job. He didn't have to match UM's offer he could've just let him walk. Clearly Jimbo feels like Coley was instrumental in his offense's success to the point where he's fighting to keep and even willing to give up some of his own responsibilities to keep him and that's a good enough endorsement for me.

1....and he was terrible at Minnesota.

Question, how many years of play calling experience did JED have before coming to The U?

Your missing the point with Jedd though, he had 5+ years of NFL experience and was one of the rising coaches in the NFL. Why this keeps getting overlooked(mainly by you) is mind boggling. I think Jedd's experience helped him be successful as an OC which is why you see him at the Jaguars now.
Coley is still a TBD, not saying he won't be successful but I would have more confidence if his resume was better.

Mostly by me? What? I asked a question trying to gather information for myself! Why do you have to be a **** about it! We are not all know it all's like you! ****

Even though this staff has locked down SFLA JC was our thorn in our foot. Now we finally picked it and we should seal off SFLA with ease. Just like Al promised day 1 "We are going to be tough to beat down here"

I know I've said bad things about Coley in the past but now I repent. Please come to Coral Gables!!

According to RIVALS....these are the kids Coley has been responsible for landing the last 3 years....

2012

Sean Maguire
Christo Kourtzidis

2011

Lamarcus Brutus
Ruben Carter
Arrington Jenkins
Joshue Matias

2010

Greg Dent
Mike Harris
Damien Jacobs
DeJoshua Johnson
Lamarcus Joyner
Jeff Luc
Will Tye
Bjoren Werner

His 2010 haul was impressive...but he didn't beat us straight up for anyone other than Joyner and Dent. Joyner was never coming here and Dent flipped.

My point......Landing him won't have a huge impact on recruiting against FSU. It will help tremendously against UF, Clemson, Bama and the other schools that have done damage to us by taking Amari Cooper, Corey Lemonier, etc.

We also went after DeJoshua Johnson and Jeff Luc. Joshue Matias was a top target of ours in 2011.

That's fine. At the very least, it adds a few feet to the wall Golden is building around South Florida.

DMoney, what's your take on Coley? How similar do you think his offense would look compared to Fisch?

Two things tell me a lot:

1) Cristobal vouches for him
2) Saban took him from LSU to the pros. There's no recruiting in the AFC East. It's about intelligence and work ethic.

Didnt saban have the most coaches ever on that staff? He basically took everybody he could find, lol...

As I told D$ over the phone, what worries me about #2 is that Saban was a cluster**** in the pros. Despite a mediocre record (he was slightly below .500), he's openly admitted that he didn't deal well with the "parity" of the pro game. Why? Because that's when you need tactical advantages in order to compete and he felt a bit hamstrung by it all. Additionally, it's not like he has a fantastic eye for offensive coaching talent anyway or that Coley has been a noted strategist anywhere. All in all, despite D$'s logical #2 observation, I think Coley is still a significant unknown.

Saban didn't fail in the pros due to tactical failures. He had the most robust and expensive staff in the NFL. It was often reported he had 23 coaches and this didn't include the quality control guys he had. Jim Mandich, Joe Rose and Kim Bokamper used to joke that he had a coach for every starting player.

So if you throw a massive quantity of coaches at something, that fixes a broader issue? What made him need 23 coaches? What made his situation so unique? He failed because he didn't have the inherent advantages he does at Bama (or LSU beforehand) and couldn't compete on a level playing field. He has admitted as much.
