As if you needed more news today...

Multiple posters on Warchant are now saying that it is a done deal and Coley accepted the Um position.

I imagine, if true, we should see a press release in the next couple of hours.

BTW, I wonder if Coley will be at UM for 6's official visit.

Jimbo knows his 2013 class is ruined without Coley. He will probably lie to Coley's face to get him to stay.

BINGO.

Jimbo will do ANYTHING to Keep Coley at this point, at least for another year. After that he can kick him to the curb. He needs him to close out the recruiting class.

Agree with Franchise and I said it in another thread, if we havent had official word within a few hours, this isnt happening. IM sure Golden gave him a tight deadline. This cannot be allowed to drag on for more than about 24 hours.

It has to be a tough call for Coley. ITs his alma mmater, which is why Im so dubious about all this. Then again, it takes him almost leaving before JImbo offers him concessions? Has to make him wonder if its just to placate him temporarily for the sake of recruiting. IF he passes up this offer, he's at Jimbo's mercy for the next year.

The guy grew up accross the street from the OB....literally. I am sure he loves FSU, but I am pretty sure he has some strong feelings about Miami.

That may be, but he's not going to take a lateral move if Jimbo offers him everything he wants up there. Remember, Jimbo needs him right NOW a **** of a lot more than we do. IF he loses Coley, their recruiting takes a pretty decent hit with 2 weeks to go before NLOID. The question is, is Coley smart enough to see through that and realize that Jimbo is probably just looking to use him for another year because of recruiting, and isnt likely to honor most promises made to him now.

Im not saying they guy WONT take the job. IF, and its a BIG IF, he told Jimbo he was leaving and taking the UM gig, its kind of hard to take that back just because Jimbo made an 11th hour promise. Both sides have to recognize that it just comes across like a temporary placating measure that isnt really going to last.

If it wasnt for Coley being an FSU guy, this would be a no brainer. He has a chance for a fresh start at UM, making better money than he was, back home where he grew up and has family, and he's out of Jimbo's shadow and can really be a full OC here.

Don't know if it's just me... I like him as a recruiter, but Coley's credentials aren't the best as an OC. He's basically has been Jimbo's information gatherer. He hasn't called plays since doing so for 1-11 FIU team.

Guys, I just think UM could do alot better for an OC.

Sounds like a win-win for Coley, but an overpayment on our behalf for another Patrick Nix if you ask me...

I'm surprised so many seem to be on board with hiring Coley. I get that he is supposedly a great recruiter but I'm concerned about his lack of experience calling plays. I'm having nightmare flashbacks of Patrick Nix.

Trust Golden and Cristobal
I do. I'm not ready to jump off a bridge over it. I just have some reservations based on the Nix experiment.

That angle about him being an FSU alum don't mean squat. Why? Because him being from South Florida didn't keep him from going to FSU

If he loves his alma mater like I do mine it'll MOST DEFINITELY play some factor in his decision. He might not trust Jimbutt at this point.

Always easy to relate this to how we deal with women

You and your girl are growing apart. You're tired of her being such a ***** and *******, so y'all separate for a little bit and like a day later, you have a great girl, who's not only interested in you, but she's probably an upgrade over the ex, and would improve you as a man.

When you tell your ex that it's probably over and that you've met someone, she makes the last ditch effort to keep you. Saying how she gonna change and that she knows she was wrong, but she's "better now". One of two things happens:

A) Real Niggaz tell the ho to kick rocks and they move on
B) Soft Shouldered folk cave to the guilt trip of leaving her with a pillowcase full of tears

This is a VERY fair point, and worth discussing. I also have a bad "Patrick Nix" feeling about this. I dont want us to get so caught up in sticking it to FSU and just doing this to win a few recruits, that we ignore the resume. But I do trust Golden a **** of a lot more than I trusted Shannon. Someone somewhere must think pretty highly of the guy, so all we can do is hope for the best, IF he ends up being the guy.

All this is great but if we don't get someone who can develope qbs worth a **** our offense will put up fsu like results. Ton of talent with average QB play.

Question, how many years of play calling experience did JED have before coming to The U?
